Practical part - impressions

Testing a chair can be a bit difficult. To do it properly, it will take some time. There’s only one way to find out, and that is to start using it and to spend a lot of hours in front of the PC in it. For me, it was working as an accountant, typing the texts that you read on the portal; surfing the net and replying to e-mail; watching movies and series, and last but not least - playing. For me, it was over three months, so the opinion should be relevant.

As the name “Black Edition” might suggest, we are dealing with a completely black chair.

What catches your eye is the subtle black stitching. The only “decorations” are a subtle logo on the headrest and a badge with the company’s name on the backrest, which looks very elegant. That chair will work in the player’s room and the office. The “hybrid polyurethane leather” material feels significantly more breathable in warmer conditions.  This material looks and behaves like soft leather, but at the same time, it’s extremely durable (should look good even after years of use). It’s tear and abrasion-resistant. It’s also easy to clean.

If we start at the top, specifically the neck/headrest area, we find the noblechairs logo embossed into the PU leather surface. The surface is very good in quality, and it’s nice to touch as well. The neck pillow is made of a velour material.

The large size and wide backrest also mean that even larger persons will sit correctly, without some squeezing/pressure feeling. It is stable (steel frame), really well-profiled and provides adequate support for sensitive places. Also, note the subtle noblechairs logo on a plaque on the backrest, a bit further down.

Let’s move on to the armrests. Several metal parts have been used, rather than plastic, which we normally would see. The surface of the armrest is soft and comfortable. The armrests are large and set wide apart. There’s plenty of adjustment options (it’s a 4D): they move up/down, slide in/out, and back/forth. There’s some rattling noise when changing the position, unfortunately. It’s also possible to unbolt and remove them if you prefer.

The next thing is the integrated lumbar support in the backrest.  You can adjust the hardness by turning the small knob located on the right side of the backrest. It moves in small, clicky intervals. There’s also an additional lumbar pillow (made of the same material as the neck pillow), but I don’t see any real use for it.

The next up is the backrest. It is 89 cm high, and the seat is 56 cm wide and 55 cm deep.

You can adjust the backrest to sit upright or lean back if you’re watching a movie or need to relax, and it’s done by using the small (metal) lever (on the right side). You can go from the full-on upright position to the almost-horizontal one. You need to pull it up and lean forward or backward, and the backrest will adjust accordingly.

Then - on the right underside is the lever to adjust the gas lift mechanism (it’s a class 4 gas lift, which allows you to adjust the height by 10 cm).

A locking lever on the left enables/disables tilt on the chair (by a maximum of 35 °, from 90 to 125 °). You can’t bow the chair completely horizontally because this model is also aimed to be used in offices, and there can be a policy applied against models that can be lowered as if you’re about to take a nap.

Let’s get to the bottom. At the wheelbase of the chair (5-arm aluminum base guarantees the stability of the whole unit), we find five durable Ø 60 mm wheels (but they could have been rubber, not plastic). The manufacturer ensures that they are adapted to both soft and hard floors. Overall, the chair supports a maximum weight of 150 kg and indicates the build quality of the noblechairs HERO Black Edition.

As for the last feelings about the noblechairs HERO Black Edtion - the filling is quite hard, but I got used to it quickly. It’s really good that many metal (not plastic) pieces (buttons on the armrests, lever for backrest, and knob for lumbar section) build confidence in this product’s durability. There’s a lot of space even for a tall guy like me (I’m 202 cm). It has been a real pleasure to use this chair daily.
