The NAND memory in use is Intel 20 nm 128 Gbit MLC, though tagged with an Intel logo, these originate from Micron. You will find 18 of these at the frontside and another 14 on the backside for the 1.2 TB model, yes 32 NAND ICs. I bet Intel would like to move to 3D memory fast as it would save them a lot of NAND ICs.

Oh and yes, if you spot the SMT traces there, there's room for even more NAND flash memory, four on each side.
