HP Portable P500 1TB Portable SSD
Portable USB 3.2 Gen 2 SSD storage at a fair price

We review the HP Portable P500 1TB Portable SSD. This portable storage USB3 based SSD is able to hit plenty fast enough read and write speeds, and the 1 TB model does that at a price of 99 USD, not bad eh? HP offers the new Portable SSD (USB 3.2) in several volumes sizes. These drives come in capacities of 250, 500 and now even 1 TB, the new 1TB model features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface (10 Gbit/s) priced at roughly 10 to 12 cents per GB.

HP's P500 is all about portability, along with the slim and sleek design and is lightweight, this external SSD delivers exceptional read and write, quadruple the speed you’d get with external hard drives. The PD500 is driver-free compatible with Windows, Mac OS, and Android and supports hot plugging. This makes sharing and moving your content across platforms super easy, without worrying about lengthy installs. P500 is available in Black, silver, red, and blue color options. Smaller than a business card footprint, P500 is easy to carry and be used for data storage. Bundled with USB Type C to Type-A cable, USB Type-A to Type-C adapter, it easily matches most terminal interfaces.

  • Read Speed 420 MB/s,  Write Speed 255MB/s
  • Large capacity of 1TB
  • USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C

HPs OEM Biwin mentions sequential read speeds of up to 420 MB/s sequential reads, and up to 255 MB/s sequential writes which is not extremely fast these days, but for portable storage aimed at a value segment, definitely sufficient I's say.
