ATI versus NVIDIA: Call of Duty MW2

ATI versus NVIDIA: Call of Duty MW2

So you've just experienced a dry hump session of pure NVIDIA scaling within the several GeForce GTX 470 configurations. But obviously you'd also like to learn a thing or two about performance scaling in-between ATI and NVIDIA.

Now due to the huge amount of time needed to accomplish this, for this article, I narrowed down the multi-GPU setup towards two cards, thus 2-way SLI and 2-way Crossfire. Both brands are again tested on the very same machine, just with a different drive image (we have a dedicated ATI OS and an NVIDIA OS) other than that everything is the same including patches and what not.

We'll focus on four resolutions:

  • 1280x1024
  • 1600x1200
  • 1920x1200
  • 2560x1600

Each game has the exact same settings in image quality as normal. Let's start off.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Image Quality setting:

  • 4x Anti-Aliasing
  • 16x Anisotropic Filtering
  • All settings maxed out

As you can see, NVIDIA scales phenomenally here; absolutely dominating ATI's Crossfire mode.

After our last SLI article we received some requests asking if it would be possible to include some more competitive charts in these articles as well. Your wish is my command, you may find a performance chart above.
