The 700K EVO comes with either Cherry MX Red or Blue switches. We had the former in the reviewed sample. The actuation force is 45 cN and pre-travel is 2.0 mm. Cherry MX Reds are quiet.

We have tested the 700K EVO during several hours of typing and gaming. In a standard suite of games: Starcraft 2, PUBG, Battlefield 1, Call of Duty: WW2 or even DiRT: Rally, the keyboard responded swiftly and precisely. Speaking of precision – it is one of the reasons why people buy mechanical keyboards, and there’s full of it here. The option to record macros may come in handy in several contexts. You can find the procedure in the manual.

The keyboard passed the N-Key rollover test without any hiccups. The anti-ghosting technology does its job as it should. There were no missed keystrokes when typing, either. Typing is a really good experience on the Cougar 700K Evo. The ergonomics are great, and the wrist rest makes the reviewed product ideal even for long sessions. Of course, some people may not like/need it, but it’s removable, so no issue here.  The buttons are of good quality (although it’s ABS, not PBT). I miss the volume roller (like in Corsair keyboards), but an audio pass (mic in and stereo out) is included on the opposite side. The lighting is impressive. You’ll spot some light bleed, but the colors are so vibrant that this is not annoying. USB pass-through is a good idea, although 2 ports would have been more appreciated. Although I like traditionally shaped keyboards (rectangular), using this one it wasn’t a bad experience despite all the edges and protrusions.
