Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 RAPIDFIRE review - Product Showcase

Product Showcase

Let's have a closer look at the product guided with the help of lots of photos. As always packaging and bundle first. The core features of the lineup are all rather similar and include Cherry MX keys (most popular is RED) with our model being fitted with newer speed MX switches, 1000Hz polling, full-key rollover though, over USB and 100% anti-ghosting. By the way, the Cherry MX Speed switches are also referred to as Rapid Fire by Corsair and opposed to speed switches, you can also have the option in Red, Blue, Brown switches.

Unpacking shows the bundle kit, the keyboard, the soft touch wrist rest and a manual/warranty guide. The K70 RGB MK.2 comes with extra replaceable dimpled WASD and QWERDF keys for your FPS/MOAB need and preferences, the keyboard obviously is fine with any game. Across the keyboard you will notice RGB back-lights, these can be dimmed, controlled, colored and configured. We'll show you the keyboard powered on over the next few pages.

The keyboard once again feels nice and heavy, made out of a base with brushed aluminum on top of it. The anodized brushed black aluminum looks just really good and brings in an extra premium feel. It will also help with dampening vibrations. It shares 99% of the DNA of the previous K70 products though, there are subtle changes. The wrist rest also was changed a bit, it feels more rubberized and dimpled, also I think it's a bit wider compared to previous models. You can opt to pop it on, or never use it. Your call.

Programmable G keys will be hard to find in the K70 series, however, some basics media function keys are present on the keyboard and very functional. The metal volume knob is really handy. The keys themselves are exposed, simple cleaning works out well with say a can of compressed air. However, being exposed like that has another effect as well, the base will collect dirt more quickly. It's not massively different with normal keyboards, but the base is exposed and can be a little more susceptible to dirt. As you can see, ABS keycaps, not PBT. Ever since I have tested PBT I've become a huge fan of them. It would be nice to see some keyboard released with PBT default keycaps I guess.

There is also a Windows lock mode key, which allows you to disable the Windows key and get dropped back to the desktop by accident in a hefty gaming session. These functions are all supported by default, there's no need to install any software whatsoever. You can program the windows lock key with a LED backlit color of your preference, say red. So if in use that backlight will change from white to red (or whatever color you want). Really simple stuff, but very handy.

Corsair K70 PRO RGB keyboard review
The Corsair K70 RGB Pro keyboard is the one we’re reviewing today. It’s not the first one from the K70 series checked on guru3d. Previously those were K70 RGB Rapidfire Mk2, also in a low-profile version, and as a TKL, so overall, there shouldn’t be any significant surprise as far as the general concept goes. Corsair K70 RGB Pro takes some K100 RGB and (most of) K70 RGB TKL CHAMPION (already mentioned) features. The suffix “Pro” wasn’t used yet, so probably it was the right time for that.
