Corsair HS70 Wireless Headset review - Final words and conclusion

Final words and conclusion

For 80 USD/EUROs Corsair offers a really good headset really. The HS70 offers gamers a high-quality wireless headset solution without compromising on comfort, audio and mic quality. There is no RGB (which doesn’t bother me and likely many of you). The grand feature here is that it is wireless (and I’m a fan of that for gaming) and, yeah, it has that properly good 7.1 (virtualized) audio card embedded. The headset supports virtualized surround sound, but usually disabling that feature will make the sound experience better overall (especially for music), that however is a subjective observation. Wearing comfort was excellent, and audio quality was by far good enough, even when listening to music.

It’s obviously hard to be impartial, but in my personal opinion the audio quality feels well balanced and it’s easy to adjust it to your needs as well of course, mainly thanks to the implementation of iCUE software and the USB audio card. It’s a good package deal for the money you spend, given the two 50 mm neodymium drivers. They offer a sound that’s rich in detail and with a wide spectrum. The virtualized 7.1 sound comes in handy for gaming. The battery life was about 12 hours in my case (which is not too far off from Corsair’s claim of up to 16 hours). The wireless range was about 10 meters, so I could easily go to the other room and listen to music there.

Wearing Comfort

The HS70 is very well made in this respect. It feels light and very comfortable, as its build is intricate yet simple. Even longer sessions of 3 hours+ are not tiresome. The ear padding is a little tough with a leather feel to it, but still good in use and comfy. The headband is made very solidly. Cup height can be adjusted, but there are no hinges/swivel points (although that is not an issue for me).

Conclusion

For the 89 USD/EUR you have to spend, you honestly cannot go wrong with the HS70, it offers proper audio quality combined with excellent wearing comfort. It might not be perfect, but the build quality is high, we simply have not seen any issues in that department. You can perhaps argue that the insulation in terms of ambient noise in your room is a bit average, but I am nitpicking as this is not an active noise canceling headset either. I'll even stretch that, it isn’t a drawback for me, as sometimes it’s nice to hear, for example, what your family is doing at that moment. Summing things up, it’s a headset worthy of a Top Pick award. You can tweak the headset to your liking, and it works just really well with the embedded USB 7.1 soundcard. Of course, taste in audio is a subjective matter but here as well, as I’ve mentioned, it’s easy to adjust your audio envelope preference to your needs and requirements slash. That said, the truth is also that the HS70 is not going to win over any audiophiles, but it certainly is more than enough for gamers and casual music listeners. For me, the HS70 works well in music, as well as in gaming, thanks to proper 50 mm drivers. The included (detachable) MIC also is of decent quality and will be reliable. There is one minor quirk here – the input jack is covered by small rubber tab, and you can lose it relatively easily. The 2-year warranty paired with its good build quality are also important items to mention in the last lines of this review. This is one of the best headsets that this reviewer has had the pleasure to work with and, as such, we totally recommend it as a top pick for this kind of money.

Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 CL36 review
In July, Corsair presented a new series of DDR5 memories: the Vengeance RGB DDR5. The available kits from the RGB edition have a frequency higher than the base 4800 MHz (5200-6600 MHz); the non-RGB version starts from 4800 MHz. We are checking the Corsair Vengeance RGB 6000 MHz CL36 DDR5 kit today. It's in the middle frequency in the series. We already had an opportunity (almost three years ago) to review the Vengeance (Pro) RGB series RAM, but it was for the DDR4; the frequency was 3200 MHz, and it received a "Top Pick" award, and also the Vengeance RGB Pro SL which had 3600 MHz frequency (with CL18) and got the "Approved" award. But let's focus back on the tested DDR5 kit.

In this article, we review the Corsair Katar Elite Wireless mouse. It’s an optical gaming mouse that was launched today, on 26.10.2022. The Katar model is a new version of the Katar Pro Wireless that was introduced on October 2020. The Katar Elite Wireless is targeted at gamers, but it should also work more than fine as a regular mouse. This time, the optical sensor is not the 10K DPI PMW3325 but a 26K DPI Corsair Marksman. It has 1 DPI resolutions steps, 650 IPS tracking, and up to 50G acceleration.

Corsair HS55 Wireless Core Headset review
Corsair has a broad range of PC components and peripherals. Among them, headsets are also available, and the range starts from the budget-oriented HS series (the reviewed one is one of them), then there’s the mid-range Void series, and it ends with high-end Virtuoso. Getting back to the HS series, it starts with HS35, and till now, it also contained HS45, HS50, HS55, HS60, HS65, HS70, HS75, and HS80 (some of them had different variants). We’re checking out the all-new Corsair HS55 Wireless Core in this review. Its debut is on the 20th of September, 2022.
