Performance - IPC

Instructions per cycle (IPC) clock for clock at 3500 MHz

For our IPC test we lock processor cores at 3500 MHz. That way you can see the architecture performance of the processor clocked at exactly the same frequency. This is a single-thread measurement. For many people, this is the holy grail of CPU measurements in terms of how fast an architecture per core really is. I, however, tend to say there's more to it than that, and that would be higher frequency allowances versus P-states, caches, and memory latency defining that per-core performance. IPC x a higher Clock frequency is more performance. AMD has been decrowned, albeit by a small margin. Intel with Alder lake currently offers the best IPC per performance core, Intel also reaches higher clock frequencies.

Based on this test Intel gained 11% IPC coming from Rocket Lake (11th gen) and 22% coming from Comet lake (10th Gen).
