So, here we have the unit shipped in. Light-orange and white packaging, the product is clearly tagged and shown on the box, easy to spot and verify in the stores, though hard to spot in our white photo studio. BTW check that Nimbustor 4 logo, is that a dragon? :)

Opening up the box you'll notice a well-packaged product. Chances of damage are fairly slim as the NAS is cushioned in-between two massive Styrofoam blocks and then has a plastic bag enclosing it. A separate carton holds the power brick and other included kit.

The front side of the AS5304T is revamped, the door now basically is a latch, held in place by four small magnets. it works really well actually. The front side is made of plastic, the outer casing is metal, which makes this a very sturdy product I must say. Visual indicators have a red striping, and everything is black now, even the bottom sider. First impressions, a nice updated look, I like it. Also both on the front and backside, a USB 3.1 (Gen1) connector.

Bundled you'll find everything you need to get started. Adapter + power cable, 2x Cat5e Ethernet cables for LAN on that Multi-Gigabit connector. That connector is backward compatible to 2.5 and 1 Gbps of course (as well as 100/10 Mbit/s), of course, a driver CD and manual as well as screws to secure any SSD storage units (which you obviously still need to buy). HDDs can be mounted tool-free as the NAS now has upgrade drive caddies. We'll show you that on the next pages of course.

To date, Asustor still makes use of external power bricks. And you know what, I like that. I've been using Asustor NAS servers for many years now here in my office (24/7), and should a power brick fail (which quite honestly never has happened) it is comforting to know that I can easily swap it out for a new one and power up that NAS unit again. So yes, these do have my preference.
