The NexXxoS XP Bold HighFlow CPU water-block

Alright then. A month or two ago when we started assembling Project-X, I figured we needed to get ourselves a nice looking water-block. I like the UV shine and looks a lot. In the past we have used items from Alphacool, and Alphacool was one of the first out there to have a water-block ready for Nehalem socket 1366 processors (Core i7). These guys are the pro's .. really as they research water-flow, dynamics and everything that is going on inside that water-block to ensure heat dissipation is optimal and efficient.

They will offer several selections in water-blocks, hover since I like UV a lot and sine I like to see the actual water-flow running over that nice copper block, I had my eyes on their NexXxoS XP Bold HighFlow CPU Cooler for Socket 1366 with a plexi-glass cover, see through.

A see through design, that is very efficient. And it should be since we are cooling AND overclocking our Core i7 965 processor towards ~3.8 GHz based on nearly passive cooling in order to keep the noise levels down, now that is quite a challenge. The Alphacool NexXxoS XP HIGHFLOW cooling block has 53 nozzles that according to Alphacool enable a very balanced distribution of coolant to the heated area. Then by eight backflow channels that heated coolant will be quickly transported away to the radiator. Yep, this stuff is science man.

The 8 backflow channels are optimized over the pin structured base plate so to enable the fastest possible water flow through the cooler.

This water-block is a highflow model, which gives you you the possibility of an extremely elevated flowrate of the coolant, thus dispersing the heated coolant much more quickly and efficiently, with less stress on the pump.

Technical Data:

  • Flow rate: 4,9 bis 5,0 l/m, 294 bis 300 l/h
  • Nozzles: 53
  • Backflow Channels: 8
  • Weight: approx. 0,300 kg
  • Structure: Cooper / Plexiglas Röhm / Degussa

This product is high in demand already and rather hard to get. The price, expect roughly 45 to 50 EUR. From here on let's just move onward to a photo-shoot. Should you by the way be interested in learning more about the cooling solutions we use, the Reserator XT from Zalman, please read this review we did last year.
