Project Logan - Nvidia brings Kepler to Mobile

This week at SIGGRAPH, Nvidia has been giving a sneak peek at the GPU inside Project Logan, their next-generation, CUDA-capable mobile processor. From a graphics perspective they claim this is as big a milestone for mobile as the first GPU, GeForce 256. Project Logan’s GPU is based on  Kepler architecture, which forms the foundation for products that a year ago began rolling out across our notebook, desktop, workstation and supercomputer lines.

Leadtek WinFast GeForce GTX 770 Hurricane III

A company that you don't hear much of these days is Laadtek, they are still alive and kicking it though as they have just released the GeForce GTX 770 Hurricane III. The GTX 770 is customized and thus not reference. The card seems to be using the old GTX 680 design and then is armed with customized cooling called Hurricane III. That Hurricane III is based on five copper heatpipes out of which two ate two mill thick. The fans are dual-fan 85mm fans that blow air over the aluminum heatsink.

Ubisoft online store leaks Battlefield 4 system requirements

In a fortunate event Battlefield 4′s system requirements are stated to be similar to those of Battlefield 3. By mistake the specs have been publish on Ubisoft’s online store, but also could be a placeholder. Interestingly it mentions that the minimum operating system for BF4 is 32-bit Windows Vista on SP1, while the Alpha trials required a 64-bit Windows Vista running SP2. Being that the Alpha trail required more “juice” suggests that the requirements on Ubisoft’s site were/are a placeholder, bogus, or both. Not to mention, they looks extremely close to BF3′s requirements.

Well, this one should bring a nice smile on your face. Dell took the opportunity to unleash one such display during the proceedings at SIGGRAPH this week. The UltraSharp 32 is a 32-inch Ultra HD unit that wields a 3,840 x 2,160 IGZO panel sorting 1.07 billion colors. An aluminum stand has replaced the plastic-draped one from previous models, but the same height adjustments reside around back.

It looks like AMD will drop using the Radeon HD 8000 naming completely, in fact according to something that VR-Zone noted there might be another change. It seems that AMD will use a different naming aka Radeon R9-XXXX. So the big daddy flagship would be called R9-9970 and say the flagship dual-GPU board R9-9990.

Gigabyte released a new budget graphics card to its range, the GeForce GT 640. Codenamed GV-N640D5-1GL, the card features 384 CUDA Cores, a 64-bit memory interface, a core clock of 1046MHz and a 1GB of GDDR5 memory set @ 5000MHz, and features D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI outputs. The GeForce GT 640 will start shipping from late July for 10,000 Yen (about $99).

Rouchon Industries Inc., d/b/a/ Swiftech today announced the withdrawal from US sales of the H220 CPU cooling kit. On June 7 2013, Rouchon Industries Inc., d/b/a/ Swiftech received a letter from Asetek' s lawyers claiming that the H220 CPU cooler infringes on their US patents 8,240,362 (the '362 patent) and 8,245,764 (the '764 patent) and to cease selling, offering for sale and importing the H220 CPU cooler in the United States. Pending final disposition of this matter, Swiftech immediately placed a hold on shipments of the H220 CPU cooling kits into the USA.

Resume That Took 2,000 Hours To Make!

Alexander J. Velicky spent 2,000 hours crafting something that's part resume, part love letter to the company he wants to work for more than any other, Bethesda. He created a mod called 'Falskaar' that adds 25 hours of gameplay to their hit title Skyrim, and created a land mass a third as big as the original massive map. He employed 29 voice actors to record new dialog for his NPCs, and recruited over a 100 total people to help him with Falskaar. Now, he waits Bethesda is aware of the mod, but no word on if they've officially recruited Velicky yet. It seems like they'd be rather foolish not to, as someone with this much passion, determination and talent could only be an asset to their team.
