An anti-piracy company has found itself in the middle of a huge controversy. CIAPC, the company that had The Pirate Bay blocked by ISPs in Finland, tracked an alleged file-sharer and demanded a cash settlement. However, the Internet account holder refused to pay which escalated things to an unprecedented level. In response, this week police raided the home of the 9-year-old suspect and confiscated her Winnie the Pooh laptop.

After a discussion on a German a website, NVIDIA confirmed that the Geforce 600 series does not fully support DirectX 11.1 aka is 100% compatible. Well, it doesn't fully support the API. The GTX 680 supports DirectX 11.1 with hardware API eature level 11.0, including all optional features.

Weird, It looks like Mozilla has given up on developing Firefox 64-bit and it seems the decision is final.Citing reasons that Firefox 64-bit is a "constant source of misunderstanding and frustration," the engineer wrote that the builds often crash, many plugins are not available in 64-bit versions, and hangs are more common due to a lack of coding which causes plugins to function incorrectly.

A security hole has been discovered in Microsoft’s product activation process that allows pirates to get a free legitimate activation of Windows 8 using the current Windows Media Center upgrade promotion. people have been having a harder time with Windows 8 because Microsoft no longer allows volume keys — each Windows 8 activation requires a unique key. However, a hole was discovered that involves using the KMS (Key Management System) , and then applying the freely available Windows Media Center upgrade on top of it.

Sometimes yuo gotta wonder about the health implications. A 28-year-old Australian man by the name Okan Kaya played Black Ops II multiplayer for 135 hours and 50 minutes straight, rocketing past the previous Guinness World Record for a video game marathon. That mark was held by two Canadian gamers, who clocked 120 hours and seven minutes, the site writes. New Guinness stipulations allow for 10-minute breaks every hour, Kaya said, adding that they can be taken together if desired.

Unveiling a Somewhat Real Holodeck

Stony Brook University unveiled its latest engineering feat, a 1.5 billion pixel Reality Deck, at a demonstration held at the University's Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) on November 15, 2012. The Reality Deck, a 416 screen super-high resolution virtual reality four-walled surround-view theater, is the largest resolution immersive display ever built driven by a graphic supercomputer. Its purpose and primary design principle is to enable scientists, engineers and physicians to tackle modern-age problems that require the visualization of vast amounts of data. The 18-node visualization cluster provides the rendering backbone for the Reality Deck facility. Each node features dual Intel Xeon CPUs, each with 6 cores, as well as 48 GB of RAM and 1 TB of local storage. The nodes are interconnected over Infiniband and Gigabit Ethernet. Every machine contains 4 AMD Firepro V9800 GPUs that can drive up to 6 monitors at their native resolution. Effectively, each cluster node can drive up to 24 monitors for almost 90 megapixels of visual space.
