Samsung has released a SSDs under the name 840 PRO. Coming in three different storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, these slim 2.5-inch SSDs (7mm thick) are equipped with MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and capable of delivering read/write speeds of up to 530/390 MB/s (128GB Model) and 540/520 MB/s (256GB & 512GB Models), respectively. The 128GB, 256GB and 512GB models are priced at $149.99, $269.99 and $599.99, respectively. We'll try and get a sample in soon for a review.

Dell releases a new multi-touch LCD monitor from Dell, the S2340T. This 23-inch IPS LED-backlight monitor provides 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 270 cd/m2 brightness, 8ms response time and 178/178 degree viewing angles. In addition, it also comes with a webcam, two built-in 5W stereo speakers and features HDMI, DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet and 2x USB 3.0 connectors. The S2340T retails for 54,980 Yen (about $689).

Collapse in a good way. ASUS today shows their ET2300 which is a 23" Windows 8 All-in-One PC with a 1920 x 1080 pixels IPS LCD screen with 10-point multi-touch input. The system features Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 series processors and comes with integrated Intel graphics or NVIDIA's GT630M and comes with a built-in subwoofer. You can get it with up to 8GB DDR3 1600MHz memory, up to 2TB of HDD storage, a slot-loading DVD drive, HDMI input and output, WiDi, eSATA, USB 3.0 and optional Thunderbolt. One of the special features of the ET2300 is that you can fold it together, turning it into a tablet-like device. Not sure if this feature is really all that useful, but it does make the computer easier to transport.

ASRock enables Smart Response caching on X79

ASRock sends out word that they are  first motherboard maker to offer support for Intel's Smart Response SSD caching technology on a X79 motherboard. This technology was present on Intel's Z68 chipset but was not supported by the X79 until Intel released the Rapid Storage Technology 11.6.0.1030 drivers in September. ASRock has now issued the P1.60 BIOS for its X79 Extreme11 motherboard to activate this feature.

Sony has become aware of a new PlayStation 3 security nightmare after a day in which a brand new, PSN-enabled custom firmware was released for hacked consoles, swiftly followed up by publication of the console's LV0 decryption keys - which some say blows the system wide open. The release of the new custom firmware - and the LV0 decryption keys in particular - poses serious issues.

Apple announces 8-inch iPad Mini

As expected the iPad mini has just been launched by Apple. Apple's Phil Schiller stated in a speech that this "isn't just a shrunken-down iPad, it's an entirely new design." At almost 8-inch the all new 7.9-inch iPad mini has a 1024 x 768 resolution, like the earlier-generation 9.7-inch iPad models, but is housed in an all-new 7.2mm-thick aluminum shell, the housing makes the product 53 percent lighter and a good chunk thinner than the 4th-generation iPad. Comparing the iPad mini against the Nexus 7, Phil points out that Apple's tablet is lighter and thinner than Google's slate in spite of having a display area that's a third larger. The Nexus 7 also has a bigger, plastic bezel around its screen whereas the iPad mini's bezel is made out of aluminum.

As I’m sure you’re aware Medal of Honor: WarFighter is about to launch. AMD found an issue that came up last minute that affects this game, where you might experience an application crash if you’re using a CrossFire configuration while Deferred Anti-Aliasing is enabled. This only affects the newly released 12.11 beta 3 Catalyst.

AMD has now fixed this issue and updated Catalyst 12.11 towards Beta 4 which you can download here.

The CPU tested today has eight physical CPU cores, it will have a base clock of 4000 MHz, and can Turbo towards 4200 MHz. And that makes the FX series a multi-threaded high frequency monster.

We review the MSI GeForce GTX 660 HAWK graphics card in this article. The MSI HAWK is released in the mid-range segment, yet received a high-end treatment from MSI.  Armed with a customized PCB, TwinFrozr IV cooler, military class components and to top it off, a very high factory overclock that places this product smack down in the middle of GeForce GTX 660 Ti performance.  The HAWK edition also comes with the V-Check points that allow voltage measurement points for enthusiasts wanting accurate voltage readings via multi-meter. Not bad for a 175 EUR card really.
