At its fourth-quarter financial conference call, Activision confirmed the developer for the upcoming Call of Duty game. Activision officially noted that Black Ops developer Treyarch is the studio behind the upcoming Call of Duty game coming this year.

According to the company’s remarks, the next chapter of the saga coming this year (in Q4, which means between October and December as usual)) will be developed by Treyarch, which is the studio behind the Black Ops series. Activision did not share any further details on this year's Call of Duty game, but it is rumored to be the much-anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Treyarch also worked on Call of Duty Black Ops in 2010 and Black Ops II in 2012, alongside helping with the ports of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Ghosts. Call of Duty: WW2 was the top-grossing console game of the year globally, according to Activision, with the franchise’s biggest launch quarter sell-through (sold to customers) on current-generation consoles. It also sold more units during its launch quarter than Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Call of Duty releases rotates between Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Treyarch.
