Final words and conclusion

Final words and conclusion

We recently reviewed the Phantom 630 and if you have been looking closely, the H630 uses the very same inner chassis design layout. The looks however are rather different. Once again though, I do miss that awesome RGB LED lighting system the 820 had, I seriously like it and it was cut away for the 630 series. Realistically though, NZXT needed this kick-ass chassis to stick under 160 EUR, and it does exactly that with a good margin. You receive all the top notch features, rather heavy and silent build quality, massive space and even the biggest XL-ATX and even EATX form factor motherboards will fit with space left for liquid cooling. Then there's the white / dark looks inside and out, the overall style, grommet holes, cable management options and two pre-installed fans. On the topic of colors, that's a preference you can choose from white or black  as those are the alternatives for you.

Nitpicking

Perhaps some sort of removable 3.5 or 2.5" HDD/SSD functionality would have been very nice as well. Next to that we miss the fan controller very much! I have no clue as to why NZXT decided to leave that out for a premium chassis like this. These two things are really all that I can think of that can be portrayed as negative. Well, negative is not the right word there, 'room for improvement' should be it. Pricing wise we understand the HUE LED RGB lighting system missing though; that is for the 820.

Final Words

NZXT has an impressive offering with the H630. It however is a cut down version of the Phantom 820 and then another cut down of the Phantom 630. While most of the features are similar, some compromises have been made. The innards of the HDD covers the 820 has are gone, no HUE LED RGB lighting system, trimmed down USB connectors, no fan controller and a few other small things. Overall these changes are pretty significant, but do bring the H630 towards a price level of sub-150 USD / EUR. I like the looks that are clean and crisp with the rounded edges and the black exhaust mesh. The chassis hardly does make noise, but the inclusion of a fan controller would have been the way to go so these fans could have been set at a lower RPM.

Concluding

Connectivity wise you get 2 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0, oh and we just love the included SD card reader, this should be standard for any chassis these days we say. The two 2.5" SSD motherboard tray mounts are innovative, though I get the feeling that people do not like to hide their most expensive gear behind the motherboard tray. So yeah, the NZXT H630 simply can be classified as good. A rock solid product. Seriously it's 14 kg ! Style is a personal and tricky thing to comment on, but will always be the decisive factor in purchasing a chassis. The NZXT H630 is a great looking product, built with care, enthusiast and oozes build quality. It is sturdy, nice and stylish and pretty silent. We can recommend it very much.
