Box 'n Stuff
Let's take a look at the packaging. Packaging with ASUS is always good. No blister packs here. A good old-fashioned carton box.
The packing material is almost entirely recyclable, which is very good to see. Hopefully the age of plastic and more plastic packaging is done with. The front of the box has all the stuff you want to know, headphone amp, microphone input, 114dB SNR, 24-bit/192KHz sampling rate, and Dolby software. Flashy colours, too.
The back has all the fine print, naturally, with some mind-altering graphs to help you figure out whether the Xonar U7 is badass or not.
Tech specs on the side.
System requirements on the other side. In case you're wondering, the drivers only run on Windows. It also says "IBM compatible PC," which I think is kind of quaint.
The finest print is on the bottom. Good luck reading that. Inside the top has some sexy hardware pictures, including the headphone output's DAC, and the U7 itself under plastic. I think I just got a techrection. Yes, Guru3d.com, we make words hard, so you don't have to.
Inside the box you’ll find the Xonar U7 and assorted cables and the requisite driver CD. But, I'm a tease, that's on page 3. Next is Features and Specifications.
