Unboxing

Opening the Kimono

ASUS have put a lot of effort into this product, like they do with all their ROG gear, but I think the Vulcan is a little special.  There was a developement blog for the Vulcan, and ASUS did take the Vulcan around to design competitions to show off their work.  The Vulcan comes in an arresting display box.  It's a little bit of a shame that you will recycle the box shortly after you get it.

It came all the way from Taiwan to USA and was opened several times for inspection.

The Alien Egg, as I shall call it, is merely the Vulcans carry case.  Its not small, but certainly easy to chuck into a bag and take to a LAN event or party.  The case is soft and smooooth, and should be sturdy enough to last a while.  It is very black, and the ROG emblem is metal.  This is an Republic of Gamers product, so it gets the royal treatment.

Alien Egg and Papers

Inside the case you find the mic and cables.  Also included are the QSG and Warranty booklets. If youre like me, you probably keep all your computer documentation neatly in a file folder for safe keeping and future reference.  Right?

Detachable Mic and Cables

Cables and Microphone are detachable.  The puck in the middle of the cable is the inline volume and mute button.

Red and the Black

The Vulcan ANC are very impressive looking headphones.  The materials are pretty good and it appears to be built very well.  One thing to note is that the cable is stiff and springy, not what one expects, and it's also proprietary, so take very good care of it.  Lets check out the specs.
