Snapdragon X Elite is Qualcomm's first SoC with a specially developed Oryon CPU and is intended to make life difficult for Apple and Intel. Qualcomm advertises up to twice the performance of Intel's 10- and 12-core CPUs, or a third of the consumption at Intel's peak performance. They want to beat Apple's M2 by 50 percent.

At Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. today announced the most powerful computing processor it has ever created for the PC: Snapdragon X Elite. This groundbreaking platform ushers in a new era of premium computing by delivering a massive leap forward with best-in-class CPU performance, leading on-device AI inferencing, and one of the most efficient processors in a PC with up to multiple days of battery life.As AI transforms how we interact with our PCs, Snapdragon X Elite is designed to support the intelligent and power-intensive tasks of the future that will enable powerful productivity, rich creativity, and immersive entertainment experiences from anywhere.

Qualcomm's latest chip is constructed using TSMC's 4-nanometer process technology and is based on a single die design. This chip features 12 Oryon cores, labeled as "high-performance," with each core capable of reaching frequencies up to 3.8 GHz. Qualcomm has further highlighted that a boost frequency of up to 4.3 GHz is achievable for single or dual cores. These cores are organized into three distinct clusters, each containing four cores on the die. In terms of memory, the chip supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM, offering a memory bandwidth of up to 136 GB/s. Additionally, the chip incorporates a total cache of 42MB.
