QNAP Systems, Inc., a prominent innovator in computing, networking, and storage solutions, has unveiled the TS-855X NAS, a cutting-edge storage device that offers a hybrid storage configuration combining six 3.5-inch HDDs with two 2.5-inch SSDs.

Powered by an Intel Atom C5125 2.8 GHz 8-core processor featuring Intel QAT and SR-IOV technology, the TS-855X provides support for up to 128 GB DDR4 memory and includes 10GbE/2.5GbE network ports. Expansion of storage capacity is easily achievable, and the installation of a compatible PCIe card enables support for 25GbE network ports. With its comprehensive range of backup, virtualization, and cybersecurity applications, the TS-855X empowers small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to establish high-performance, high-speed, and highly scalable storage and virtualization environments while minimizing total cost of ownership (TCO). The TS-855X is equipped with four UDIMM DDR4 slots, 8 GB of preinstalled memory (upgradeable to 128 GB), enabling enhanced multitasking capabilities and accommodating heavier workloads.

Additionally, it supports Error-Correcting Code memory, ensuring server-grade performance and reliability in critical enterprise IT environments. In addition to a single 10GbE connectivity port, the TS-855X also features two 2.5GbE RJ45 (2.5G/1G) ports that can be combined to enable SMB Multichannel, resulting in transmission speeds of up to 5 Gbps. The device incorporates two built-in M.2 PCIe NVMe slots, offering support for SSD caching or Qtier auto-tiered storage (available in QTS), thereby further enhancing NAS performance. Users can also take advantage of two PCIe Gen 3 x4 slots to install 10GbE/25GbE network cards and enable SR-IOV for improved I/O throughput. Furthermore, the TS-855X is certified by VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, making it an ideal choice for virtualization storage. For extensive storage capacity, businesses can effortlessly connect QNAP JBOD expansion units to the TS-855X, ensuring long-term storage and archiving needs are met while maximizing return on investment (ROI).

The TS-855X delivers an all-in-one backup and restoration solution with versatile support for cloud-based services, facilitating straightforward hybrid cloud deployment. IT personnel can take regular snapshots to safeguard the NAS against ransomware attacks and utilize the QVPN service to create virtual private networks for secure remote data access to the NAS. Virtualization Station enables the hosting of Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Android virtual machines, while Container Station supports the running of Docker, LXD, and Kata Containers. The App Center offers a wide array of applications for users to discover and install, expanding the NAS's application potential. As standard, the TS-855X operates on the QTS operating system, but it can be easily switched to the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system, enhancing data integrity and overall reliability. Key Specifications for the TS-855X-8G model include a tower design, six hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA 6 Gbps hard drive bays, two 2.5-inch SATA 6 Gb/s solid-state drive bays, an Intel Atom C5125 eight-core 2.80 GHz processor, 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM memory (expandable up to 128 GB), with support for DDR4 ECC memory, one 10GbE RJ45 port, two 2.5GbE Gigabit RJ45 ports.
