Once it's officially out, I'll wait for at least a month or more, depending on how people's feedback is, driver availability, how well it performs and how intrusive it ends up being.

It's kinda nice i have a free tool in my BIOS to prevent updating... as i have TPM disabled atm :P I will go to Win 11 eventually, but maybe after a year or so.

Although have compatible HW, not interested in 11 any time soon. Have tested the beta when released and dont like it. Of course thats what I said about Win 8 too, but eventually moved to it.

When there is a proper free start menu restorer I will consider using it.

I think ill do an easus todo backup of my win 10 and then try it out anyway. Then i can always go back to exactly how it is now if i want

Yup , that's why I left the insider builds , to much BS , for wins 10+ .

Join the Insiders...(it's free & open to everyone) and you can upgrade right now. I upgraded on the first Insider's release of Win11, took ~ 6 minutes, IIRC. Nothing to it. I have zero crashes and have no games or applications that won't run on Win11. So far, every new build of Win11 has come courtesy of a Cumulative Update--that also takes < 5 minutes to upgrade install. So far--we haven't seen the first full build of W11. I hope the CU model for build updates is here to stay--but nobody knows. That said, I don't care for Microsoft messing up the taskbar & the start menu, as neither is as functional as the Win10 counterparts. Microsoft has promised to restore Win10 taskbar function to Win11 RSN. At least they've done that--acknowledged what's wrong with the taskbar and said they would fix it. I had to hack the taskbar to place it at the top of the screen, where all Real Men™ place the taskbar...;) But as with Win10, tiles, thank goodness, are 100% optional. So, like with Win10, I don't use 'em. Real Men ™ prefer desktop shortcuts...;)

That's what I did initially--used Macrium Reflect to back up my C:\ partition before upgrading Win10 to Win11. Only thing on C:\ is my OS, drivers, and utilities--everything else is on other partitions & physical drives. Makes it real easy to return to Win10 build 21390.1xxx if I really start loathing Win11 at some future date. Wanted to add...that the only objection I have to the start menu in Win11 is that I want to shrink its width just one more notch--to make it compact as I did in Win10. I thought the minimum width in Win10 was perfect--I hope they'll fix this, too.

I'll most likely wait a couple of years, gives them a good time to iron out any issues, and hopefully improve gaming performance, which seen a few videos show negative (mind you mostly in a few %)

Is there a third party app yet that can move the taskbar to the sides? Tried searching but found nothing. Or has MS mentioned anything about possibly re-adding a feature that they removed? Which doesn't make sense since ultrawides are certainly more popular than when Windows 10 came out.... But MS not making sense is expected so not too surprised.

If you want something from the start menu, tap the windows key and start typing the name of the app. Faster than swishing your mouse to the bottom left and then moving to the side or scrolling down.

But But!....I love my mouse! https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-b0775b6713e6b02879543cc3ed9bbe21.webp Seriously though, I've been using Windows for over 20 years and I still use my mouse more than I should.... I am just now learning keyboard shortcuts and they are blowing my mind! love it!...I never could type that good though. PS: I just pressed the Microsoft key+H and it just typed all that S*** I just wrote while I was talking to myself^....:D

You mean Real Diogenes™ prefer desktop shortcuts. Real Men ™ prefer clean desktops, thank you very much.

Depends... sometimes when on the sofa, the keyboard is a bit too far to reach without making an effort and it's easier to just do everything with the mouse.

Windows 11 doesn't bring anything relevant to the table, it's just a new UI for Windows 10 with poor design revolving around touch screens and also with tons of new annoyances. And since it's Windows 10 reskin there is no reason why they cut so many CPU's support which run Windows 10 perfectly fine. I'm not even getting into TPM, impossible without cursing. 😉 Staying on 10 till 2025 and then i'll consider my options if nothing changes then Linux.

I offical cant...can wait, my system is unsupported and have zero intrest in make new system anytime soon with how prices are, my 1070ti is gona turn in to my 9800gtx, that thing died before i had rma, and i didnt buy new gpu till the 660gts. Prices are outragous right now and I Think MS couldnt of picked a worse time to force hardware requirements that 3 gen old. Short of my system out right dying I wont have win 11 or even new pc build and ore gpu anytime soon.
