If the fault lies with EA then they are liable for repaying the credit card holders. Those buying the keys are not blameless though, ive been doing it for years and you know the risks. No one other than the original thief makes a profit in cases of fraud.

Then they needed no insurance on their card. Or insurance company was never in risk of taking damage instead of their contractual customer. In chains I wrote up there, someone is making/doing something what he should not. I know of friend who's card got scanned here in CZ, and someone bough clothes in US. Insurance company covered damage. If thief got caught and goods were recovered back to shop, money would go to insurance company as they compensated victim before.

While the thief should have originally never done anything of the sort, a lot of game key websites are not always trust worthy. They should refund money to these people, but a good number of those sites aren't even in proper english, to where they rely on a translator. EA probably should have caught it, but in the end the user was the one who went to a third party site that may not have anything good going for it. This is why for example if I do look at a game key website, I see if there are any reviews for it. See if anyone has had to do any returns, and if there is information about that that proves good then I'll buy from them. If not, I stay away. Hell, a lot of them even tell you buy at your own risk because they're so bad.

Affected were most legit sited, where many of us shop for years. But if nothing comes from this... I say it myself. Those Chinese or other Asian sites decided to take a hit. While our quite rich western companies decided to take away and laugh.

EA or Ubisoft should step up and be the heroes and give these people new keys. This kind of thing could do wonders for their image
Yes, and when that happens, this will happen more often, just so companies give out free copies of games...and people will no longer be weary of buying CD keys (though in reality it seems people mostly aren't, even though they DEFINITELY should be) from potentially problematic sources as they'll just tell themselves "oh well if it's stolen, if it's found out, i'll still get my game!" Yeah...that sounds like an AMAZING idea.................

No key-selling website is legit. It doesn't matter how long they have been around, if they are not official authorized websites that sell keys, then none were legit. LEGIT websites sell UNUSUED, NON-3rd-PARTY keys, there is not one "legit" website that sells keys that were bought from a retail store (physical copy) or digital store then resold elsewhere. The ONLY legit websites are websites who get their keys FROM THE SOURCE (in this case, ubisoft)

They have essentially been caught handling stolen goods and will be getting a refund. Why should they then get a free game?
How would they be getting a free game? These people paid for a key which they thought was legit. The keys were found to be stolen which they would never have known that to begin with.

I think he's assuming they will be refunded.

All keys I got from G2play are from physical box which contains key and disc. All of them were delivered to me as an photo of key in the box with CD/DVD/BR.

Yeah, I meant people who get refunds should not get a free game. G2play don't always use photographs of retail versions, i got a Steam key 2 weeks ago and it was just a text file. It was also dodgy and already in use and im still waiting for a new key or refund. Everyone other than the credit card thief took some sort of hit with a this, but you sometime need something like this to change anything.

In today's society we are taught now to explore online for the best prices we can find, we see it daily on TV in the UK with car insurance and gas, electric and all sorts of things. In practice this is healthy for business and lends itself to a fair and free economy. In reality though it leaves people open to all kinds of theft and deceit. The old saying of "once bitten twice shy" should still apply even today. Still ill informed people will make the mistake of being overly greedy and rational goes out of the window. Either these people buying keys off of dodgy sites are desperately poor or incredibly naive and stupid. I too have suffered from this and got bitten badly not by stolen keys but by legit keys but my CC info stolen and used to try buy 1000 pounds worth of keys. I would have to be a total Muppet to fall for that shiz again, obviously and unashamedly i was pish poor at the time and my rational failed me at my moment of need. Needless to say i learnt my lesson and hope others reading this wouldn't follow my bad judgement and stay clear of CD Key selling web sites.

There is a major difference between being greedy and being cheap. The word that fits into your sentence is cheap. I can understand if you thought is was the same if you use the same word for both in your native language.

Hahaha get off your high horse joan of arc. I bet you'll still buy ubi games at full price over and over again and complain over and over again that they dont work as advertised. Yet its the "greedy" ones who are the problem.

The fact it's Ubisoft games is completely irrelevant, I use key sites alot and I know it's risky so I have zero sympathy for anyone who gets ripped off. If a game is potentially expensive or might be problematic at launch (which is every PC game) then wait until it's cheaper. Not only will you save money, you also get a better product. If you choose a workaround because your greedy/impatient then tough sh*t.

Well for me it wasn't really anything to do with CD Keys although it was from a CD Key selling site. It was Game Time i was buying and i was being sort of greedy by buying large amounts of game time for way less than the original game companies price. The last Ubi game i bought was FAR CRY i think so yea don't really get what you mean by that. The greed part comes in when you know the site is from China or Russia and you are fully aware of the risks involved but still you see that cheap figure and dive straight in. I could of just jumped in the car and went down to Game or subscribed through the game itself. I still ended up saving money and the attempt to steal from me failed miserably because i have safety systems in place to protect me from this very thing. I'm not on a high horse. Most people understand the risk involved but some people don't including myself ONCE. I had to get a new debt card from the bank, that's it.
