I guess big cases and delta fans will be back in style again. Guess the 4000 series will either be mandatory water cooled or be 4 slots wide with 3 screamer fans.

Yep, I run my 5950X, pair of SSDs and a 3090 on an AX850 just fine. In it's spare time it's spent a year mining Etherium too.
2 comments none correct, you both assumed it had to do with the maximum wattage, has absolutely nothing to do with that but with PSU design on models that can switch to single or dual-rail OCP, and there are several topic comments and feedbacks of that if you search for it which of course you wouldn't do until it happened to you 😉 basically in multi rail you have lower max currents allowed before the OCP kicks in which was fine for 300w or less gpus but becomes a problem if you have really high fps on ultra powerful 400w gpus also running what you describe with a 850watts psu is not the right way to do it, a psu is like a car engine to keep it acceptably cool and at max efficiency you're supposed to run it at half max power, not max throttle to the redline blow up my engine style pro-tip run way higher psu than you need because the day you really max it, your gpu(s) will be dead, trust me it happened to me with sli a few years back if the psu explode, because it will with a loud bang smoke the lot, your gpus will either glitch or be completely dead and your motherboard will take a hit too, several i/o ports stopped working in my case I'm not saying this out of nowhere I just read 2hrs ago a guy that had his mining rig psu explode his 8 RTX are dead and is seeking legal councel for the damages he got...good luck with that

Lets put this in to context. Supposably the RTX 40 will use 500W of power, but this is only going to be for RTX specific games. Most games will draw far less than 500W.

I already use 500w on a 3090 with the strix bios........doesn't really buy many frames over the normal 380w

So a RTX 4060 (Non-Ti) will use 300 Watts? I find that hard to believe.

This wont be true. They would be cutting out anyone using an SFX PSU and they will block 90% of the world with a regular PSU thats not sufficient. Not going to happen calling it now. But if it does at least you should have 30 seconds instead of 10 seconds to order a card on release.

The card manufactures could always make a few more if they sell out quickly?

I doubt this will be true for most of the lineup. Maybe just for the ultra high end, with some multi chip card.

Lol Jesus Nvidia. Pulling intel of the p4 era. Lots of power and clock speed to remain fast. Another thing that's makes me love my 6800xt so much. 215w avg stock settings. 5600x 65w avg @ 4.7 1.21v Zero regrets leaving intel and Nvidia.

Crap man with the price of electric now at an all time high of 3000% in the UK. Soon i won't be able to power my 3090 let alone a near 1000w 4090. ^^

If this does pan out and we get the new red and green space heaters in the 7000/4000 series I bet there will be a nice shiny new series of power supplies also hitting the market the same time from the gpu manufacturers' and the other suppliers. Double dipping time.

Might as well buy two and Crossfire them.

guess i not buy 4xxx series just like 3xxx series, you wont be able to find at msrp and even if you do they prices will higher, or you can pay 2~3x price from scalper. add that to performance gains thare strickly from doubling the power useage? No thanks that 1070ti will die first before i get new gpu. Wake me whgen prices go back to normal the mid to highend card are 150~170 watts again. This is not legit progress in performance gains I shutter to think how hot the card run and how huge solution need to be.

I would like to just settle with a 3060 12GB, but not for 750 Euros... prices are beyond insane.

This off-hand tweet is what goes for a "leak" these days? Really grasping, are we?

It's just old leaks but made "new" only for Nvidia - I wonder why?:p

a 3090 shouldn’t be tripping a 1200w psu, I run mine on a 850w psu just fine
Depends on the version - the vision doesn't use too much watt. Strix with oc and cpu with oc, and you will deffo be tripping that 850w.

100% no way I will buy such a card and I wouldn't even run it if I got one for free. 500+W for a GPU is a clear sign Jentzen cannot read the signs written on each and every wall around this dying globe. Instead of going the right way they do what has been said for centuries....going down with a big party instead of trying to do it right and maybe safe our planet. If Nvidia was Mercedes, Toyota or any other "normal" & "regulated" company they would have to go back to the drawing board cause no state or country would allow them to sell that card due to environmental "difficulties". Nvidia, sit down, "F!" Do it again and now do it right or shut the F%$$ up and stop ruining my kids planet A real angry dad of 3 seeing things going really wrong My 2 cents
