Backing is up to $77 million ... This game is going to take a while.

Using hollywood voice actors is soooo costly. Mark Hamill is great tho. But really this game seems to never come to be.
It hasn't even been 3 years and somehow you expect the most ambitious project in video game history to be done already? How much more do you have to see to realize that it's going to happen? Here's 20 more minutes showing more persistent universe gameplay including an EVA into a satellite, first person shooter combat, space combat, and more. http://www.gamersyde.com/leech_35927_1_en.html I bet Derek Smart is starting to realize how stupid he was for his slander campaign considering both he and The Inquisitor are going to be facing a civil lawsuit. People need to understand that maliciously slandering someone because of a 30 year old grudge is not protected speech. Squadron 42 has been in QA for many months now and is going to be released Q1 2016. "Behind Enemy Lines" will probably be Q3 since they are just about ready for the all the Mo-Cap stuff and audio recording studio.
So they hired Hollywood actors to burn even more cash? Since they ask for higher wage..Makes sense.
So u know how much money they've spent how? I never thought Chris Roberts, his wife, Ortwin Freyermuth, or Cindy Armstrong were members of Guru3d! Why didn't you tell us sooner? Speaking of development costs, what did Metal Gear Solid V cost? $100 million? And how bout Destiny? Oh... that was a cool $140 million for the first game. Star Wars: Old Republic had a development cost of $200 million. None of the above numbers include marketing costs either. Also, let me explain a little something about the business world. The quickest way you can destroy your product is by having your secretary's son who just got a graphic design degree doing your print advertising, having a car dealership owner starring in their own TV commercials, or hiring unknown, inexperienced voice actors for a huge project such as this. If you'd like to learn a bit about how the industry works, go take the class my dad teaches every saturday at Orange Coast College as a side gig. He spent 40 years in the business and has 2 Cleo awards to show for it. (it's basically an Academy Award for advertising). I spent way too many years listening to him to not have at least some of it sink in. I really don't understand the mentality of the crowd who seem hell-bent on doing everything they can to make this project fail. For someone to delight in a million backers never seeing this game come to fruition is just sad. And don't even try to claim your just being objective because you know that's nonsense. If Star Citizen fails, the damage it will do to innovation and forward thinking in the gaming industry will be felt for decades. All everyone does is b*tch about cookie-cutter Ubisoft "climb the tower" games, then as soon as someone wants to break the mold, people want the status quo again.

Great post and is essentially what I've ranted about in this thread. The collective ignorance and blind hatespeak that people throw at this game is appauling. You'd think people would be praising CIG for their innovation.. So stupid.

People voice their concerns/feelings as a game is made all the time. Really not seeing why this game deserves less scrutiny. So far there's only two rants in this thread and they aren't by people complaining about the game. Next rant in 3...2...

Looking Good to me, "I'm not too worried" 🙂 Some years back I was actively looking for an open development game project to back, Project CARS almost had my money... then I heard about Star Citizen and Chris Roberts the maker of the Wing Commander & Freelancer (played the Hell out of Freelancer exploring everything etc etc Loved what little it really offered.) There are a huge bunch of us out here waiting to play this amazing game and all the added detail will make it all the more worthwhile to explore! Good things are worth waiting for <3 (I've put in $975 so far and don't regret it one bit. It's been a really fun ride so far)

I think it's both. Not so much in this thread maybe, but the last one a week or so ago had a bunch of people asking why it's taking them so long.
More so the business model of not releasing a game and then adding DLC (paid or free) instead of creating all of the DLC prior to launch and taking however long their money lasts to do it.
