Better have dx12 or I'm out. They said it would, so there had better be a great reason why not. Personally I think it won't work with Nvidia cards, because you know, Nvidia lies.

How did the 280x walk the 770 'quite a bit'? The 770 is a slightly faster card.
770 was never faster than 280X. I'll advice you to take a look at some benchmarks. 280X is closer to 780 in quite a few recent games.

Its a disinformation that can only confuse people. For instance, that 2500k they listed in minimum is faster than FX chip they listen in recommended. No FX chip can beat overclocked Sandy Bridge.
Why you put that last line in there I don't know.. we're talking about NON overclocked chips here, these are requirements based on STOCK clocks. Sounds like you're just throwing Intel epeen around, totally ridiculous true or not. Calm that fanboyism.

How else are they going to sell graphics cards? What do you think the real reason gameworks exists? (Nvidia can have their hands in tweaking specific variables like hair tesselation, resulting in unneeded lower performance, and more sales)
+1 So true

Still not interested in playing this game at start and / or for full price.

I really hope this episodic style of game release doesn't catch on I would end up with too many half finished games or end up waiting forever for the whole game to come in a sale package.

Crimson drivers baby. The raw performance of those really pulled the 280x ahead. And we all know how kelper is now a dying breed. Plus the 770 I had was only a 2GB vs the 3GB 280x. That hurt the 770 alot @ 2560x1080. Anything above 1920x1080 and thats where the 280x really started to pull ahead.

HITMAN – First Official DirectX 12 Details Revealed As the press release reads: “Hitman will leverage unique DX12 hardware found in only AMD Radeon GPUs—called asynchronous compute engines — to handle heavier workloads and better image quality without compromising performance. PC gamers may have heard of asynchronous compute already, and Hitman demonstrates the best implementation of this exciting technology yet. By unlocking performance in GPUs and processors that couldn’t be touched in DirectX 11, gamers can get new performance out of the hardware they already own.” more in my thread -> http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=5230993#post5230993

Yes, the 280x seems to have improved in recent titles, I really didn't pay much attention to the 200 cards lately. Honest mistake. But @Undying, back in the day they were quite neck and neck. http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/msi-radeon-r9-280x-twinfrozr-gaming-oc-review,1.html Ps. There's also a reference 280x in the charts to compare to the reference 770 also present there.

I never trust "recommended" specs these days, they always seem to run on lower end hardware anyway.

For Ultra, they recommend a 980 Ti, or Fury X with 6GB VRam. Well good luck in finding a Fury X with 6GB VRam :P
