What kind of pc gamer doesn't have a fairly stable internet connection in the first place?
The issue isn't MY internet's stability but rather THEIR server stability. Doesn't this game have a sort of forced multiplayer element? I guess the server side save is meant to protect the game from people using editors to manipulate their save game files? Not really sure but wasn't one of the great things about previous Simcity games the ability to mod, create and do what you wanted with your city? Seems that creating your OWN city has to fit within the confines of the rules Maxxis are laying out!

really? i dont like this direction they seem to be going, always on DRM is BS unavoidable but BS, Im stuck with Verizon DSL seeing there nothing else i can get, and there DSL is complete trash. its slow and constantly dropping. people can say what they will about Steam but atlest I can save games with out steam actually being connected.

What?
That's what I'm wondering. Everyone is complaining about this but in reality it won't affect any of you.
Are you serious? In most parts of the world internet connections are everything else than "always on" and also adding costs for playing the game. For example on holidays at summer house I need to connect through phone in the middle of no where and every megabyte costs me. How ever here is the bigger problem: if someone comes up with a "fix" for this "issue", that illegal copy will be a better product than the original. This is what happened with Assassins Creed Revelations and Settlers 7 (among others). Then the pirated version is not only free, but also in some ways better. I will buy it anyway because I want to support the genre and there are no real alternatives. But I was going to buy two copies so that I could have playid with my girl fried together. No two copies anymore...

Pfft, as usual the scene release will be the best version of the game. Hassle free.

You seriously don't see the difference between an MMO and SimCity? You need one for MMO's because it's integral to the game design. Sim City has and should always be a single player game. If it has a multiplayer component, then obviously it's going to need an internet connection for that. But why is it required for me to build my city by myself? It doesn't limit pirating, all it does is create bull**** for me, someone who buys the game. The whole thing is retarded, their company just got from the NASDAQ 100. Their growth is going backwards. Their profits have been garbage. And yet they still insist on going against their own customers. There is a reason why this happened: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/14umm1/we_are_the_simcity_dev_team_from_maxis_amaa/c7gnxdy
Ea has been seeding there bed rather nicely as of late have they not? lol and Swtor is failing in alot of the gamers eyes too, not just the investors.

I bet next year EA takes the SimCity Servers down cuz only a few ppl still play the game, leaving those in the cold.

How to kill your own game in one easy lesson. I did not mind the requirement for Diablo 3. For one i kinda like Battle.net. It's a stable service and i already have an account. Also Diablo 3 imo is kinda a multiplayer game. Once you did the game once alone it's boring. The harder modes are definately more fun with friends. But SimCity is definately an offline game. It's also a game that can be fun to play on the go. Really bad move imo.

Maxis revealed earlier this year that the upcoming SimCity game will require an allways-on Internet connection, but now new details arrive about how restrictive this requirement will be. In a Q&A ... SimCity needs Internet connection to save the game
they just won't learn :bang: i'm not buying the game and if EA is going to apply this crap to all their games i'll boycott them, i did it with ubisoft (not anymore) but now i'm ready to do it with EA if necessary.

I used to love SimCity....but screw it. I'm not buying a single player game that requires an "always on" connection....

Diablo III is a let down in the same manner. I promised myself I'm not going to buy any game that is going to be Always-Online. Only Online saving is exactly the same for that matter.

I'll be buying the game, and then cracking it to play offline.

Stupid, there should be OFFLINE mode, no one should be FORCED to have an internet connection simply to save a game. Many years back there wasn't a single game in existance that required an internet connection to save, ridiculous...

So basically in order for me to play this game properly without a constant internet connection i have to play a pirated version? LOL oh dear, ah well. Their loss.

Well you can boycott and play the games at the same time, and save abit of cash to 😉

Just the usual bs going on nowdays how they screw over legit paying customers and they scratch heads as to why more and more people download cracked programs.

People thought the same about ROF and Diable 3 However it cant be done unless the server authentication is Emulated and even if it is it dont work very well. Like i said alongtime ago in some piracy thread every method can be cracked except for online server authentication although it does hurt sales which is cleary stated by many users in this thread. I do think save game authentication can be cracked and is different to online authentication to play the game only which is much tougher to crack, I have yet to see one cracked properly, Diablo 3 was but its shoddy and outdated emulation compared to the real thing. Also ROF (Rise of flight) has been out since 2009 and has not been cracked yet and i do not think i ever will be, Dont matter to me anyhow as i bought all the content for around £300.

i don't care, i'd rather sell my rig than play games with such rules, they'll never have me, ubisoft didn't until they changed the policy, i don't pirate games, i could and was tempted millions of times, but i didn't, i resisted. on the other hand, i generally spend most of my money on indie games, i enjoy them more than any game released by big developers/companies... and almost all of them don't feature any drm or internet requirement, they're cheap too. my game of the year of 2012 is Lucius (the antichrist game) released by Lace Mamba, features no DRM, available for 9.99$ on GOG. so don't worry, i'll always have something to play even without ubisoft/ea etc. 👿
