I understand you own 5800X3D so it is the best CPU ever made, but let's not spread misinformation, OK? https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_ryzen_7_5800x3d_review,6.html 5800X 69W 5800X3D 76W And btw. idle package power for X3D chips is around 8W higher compared to non-X3D variants - which is still miles from monolithic Intel chips, that is just a fact.
Sorry, I was reading the wrong review. Techpowerup also has a slight increase in power usage when idle. It does increase power usage a few watts. https://tpucdn.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d/images/power-idle.png

I wasn't talking about lows, but about framerate variations. Both lows and highs go up with 3D-Cache, but highs go up much more, making bigger FPS variations between lows and highs. That in combination with higher 3DCache to RAM latencies, which are another side-product of 3DCache, cause these variations.
I use a VRR display, capped at 144Hz. So for me the result is a much more consistent frame rate. But even for people with out VRR or some frame cap, it will fell much smoother with the X3D parts, as we feel more the drops in frame rates, than the maximum.

Hopefully this will cause the 5800X3D to drop in price 🙂
Maybe, depends on what Intel does with the 13000 series pricing. Do you think it would drop much below $300 USD? I was forced into a new pc build just as the AM5 socket was released and went with a 5800x3d AM4 due to the very high pricing of the AM5 platform at launch. AMD put themselves in a tough spot by releasing the 5800x3d. At the right price point this could be the ultimate budget build for a gaming pc. A once "expensive" x570 motherboard with PCIe 4.0 looks like a bargain compared to the AM5 motherboard pricing. Many of the B550 boards are very affordable as well. I came from a 3800x and 2070S that was great for 1440p gaming and now with the 5800x3d and the 4070 TI it's utter buttery smoothness land with max settings. Someone previously stated the low FPS's on the 5800x3d are worse, that is not true. A 13700k idles at 73 watts. I'll take the 5800x3d even if it does idle higher than the 5800x.
