I'm salivating all over the thought of having a 570 for myself. My freesync monitor needs this!
Why don't you just buy a 470 now?

More probable explanation is that you're using GPU-Z to measure your power consumption. Add some 30-40ish watts for memory interface and fan.
I don't use GPU-Z to measure anything.

That 1340 MHz boost on the 580 just so happens to be the same boost as the high end RX 480 Nitro+. hmm
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/45/45709.jpg
Exactly.
The clock increase is so tiny that it's pure comedy. It's still 480 with a different sticker, and that's it. At least my 390 has double the memory compared to 290.
Rebranded. Scam.

Other than a overclock this rebrand is just pointless

I have an MSI RX-480 Gaming X 8G that does 1380/2100 all day long, and never exceeds 70°. So, what's the point in these cards??? If you want one, find yourself a good deal on a 480, and overclock to the 580 specifications, or more.
I was thinking the same thing, not much different than my already factory overclocked powercolors, 10mhz clock difference out of the box lol

So much hate on this forum, you beg AMD to compete with nvidia to bring down your prices and then you just complain and insult when they do. Reading these comments makes me wonder just how many here own nvidia stocks because the reactions given make little sense at all. So much hate and jealousy that AMD is moving forward, I think this is a great thing it puts more cards on sale lowering the prices for everyone, I dont see this as a re brand like the 1070 is just a rejected 1080
How exactly is a strait rebranding moving forward? Might want to look at the posts in here most very critical ones are coming from 480 owners.

I second this. Bought an msi 470, and could not be happier.

Gotta agree here... really nice card for it's price range.

1400MHZ or even @ 1450MHz XFX RX 480 doing around 120 W (max) 😀 No need to worry about RX 580.
XFX cards don't count memory/fan/PCB power. They only report GPU power consumption. To have full card power consumption You need to add 40-50W for other than GPU parts of card. Still 170W for RX480 card overclocked to 1400MHz is good. I had for some time MSI Gaming X and at 1350MHz oc i had ~190W

Top PEG placement has been preferred since before, PEG connectors where they were placed at the end often ran into issues of getting in the way of 2.5/3.5" drive bays. Of course it's not much of a problem with decent cases but have to take into account many PC cases in the mainstream market are midiATX so, placing the connectors at the end would be a limiting factor.
Maybe many years ago but the average mid atx case can easily fit a 10.5inch card. A short card such as RX480 should not have PEG slapped on the middle of the card.

I interested about that XTR chip. If this is bigger Polaris card with let say ~2600 cores, it will be probably Polaris based RX590. Above that we will have Vega line.

Also I'm tired of seeing PEG connectors flat in the middle on top of GPU. Put it on the side. Top PEG just ruins those trying to perfect cable management.
As it was used to be when it appear... Also people with SSF can't use those card because of that and have to get less powerfull GPU card despite the lengh aviable in their case (or let it always open, what i have already seen).

In some country AMD is most expensive than NVidia equivalent... the fight is no more on price but on quality. i have nothing against rebranding myself, every company do it. i think the "what you call hate" is due to AMD's comunication service, we are no more in the 00' (or 2k'): over hyping product with event that are not, keeping silent with issue, being over active on social network... it doesn't work anymore. AMD have good product right now and good drivers... just have to change this

Its a process change, from LPE to LPP. Thats not just a rebrand. They should consume less overall power, and could overclock better. Might be cheaper to produce as well. We will see when the tests come out.

With the naming designation I doubt a price change. The switch from LPE to LPP is more a refinement than a process change. It may clock better but unless it clocks 150-250 MHz higher than previous gen it's kinda a moot point don't you think.

Because they are overpriced where I live. Up to 10 of March 2017 they costed above 260€. A shop now offers it for 220€. If they costed 220€ at launch I would have bought one, now I can just wait 1 or 2 more months for the 570. Why would I wait almost a year to buy the old one? For people complaining about rebranding: If you wanted to upgrade and are so upset about it, Vega is coming. Plus, Nvidia has allot to chose from.

Sorry people, if comes with 8-pin power connector on reference, there´s no DIE shrink, just rebrand...

If changes from LPE to LPP but if you think is coming with 8-pin power connector, they don´t improve power compsumition

The RX480 was already rubbing up against the 150w limit - hence the initial power criticisms, so even if it was the same process you'd want the extra connector anyway and do away with the software limitation AMD added for reference designs. Regardless, 14nmLPP is a slightly optimized 14nm that delivers either 15% faster switching speed or 15% lower power - AMD chose to up the frequency so power probably won't be much lower, if it's lower at all.
