I know people would wish to buy a 3090 for 800€, but nVidia needs the 3090s to be relatively expensive so the 4090s can be as expensive as they can get..
Nvidia needs to make money from volume sales considering the crapload of chips TSMC is committing them to. High prices is not a way to achieve that in this particular economic climate with no mining demand.

Here`s an crazy idea, they could lower the price of the 3xxx series!... I know that lowering prices is an alien concept for companies like Nvidia but they could try it, just for fun... They may even como to like it, who knows...

Those are more than likely repackaged used mining cards
I dont know what sort of penalties are in store for brazenly breaking the law like that in China are, but either way it would be quickly discovered, reported and be a big news item on tech sites pretty quick. Its not something that can be hidden for long if involving large volumes of cards. 🙄

Have high prices kept nVidia from selling every last one of their cards yet? Yes, there's no mining craze now, but if you're itching for an upgrade and don't get a bargain, you'll go for the new and expensive card. That's nVidia's target group, others will probably wait for AMD or Intel, or feel fine with their 20s series cards.

I hope its not a long delay, I want the next gen to get here soon. Tech needs to move, need my 4K gaming to get in to the 100 fps +

I would like it if I could do 4K @ 60FPS without spending the same amount of money as a new console (or more) for just the GPU alone.

Everything points out to very end of the year and that could be high end offering so what about midrange cards? Nvidia could very well delay them to q1 2023. Im curious if amd will do the same.
2023 is more realistic given the circumstances at the moment.

I dont know about that. I think Nvidia is in a worse situation with inventories than AMD are. Would be a huge opportunity for AMD to steal the thunder by launching ahead of Nvidia. Initial sales of any new cards that beat the best of last gen will sell out pretty quick in first few weeks with no competition.

Lower prices and they'll fly. I'd buy an MSI/Sapphire RX6650XT for 250€ within a heartbeat.

AMD was in a similar position at the start of the crypto craze because they offered better hash rates. yet AMD never direct sold to miners or put out a gimped product (no comment rx6600) re: mining.
and yet in the end even fewer amd cards were bought by gamers ccompared to nvidia than before the crysis, as market share figures and steam survey suggest. even here it's over 3 ampere to 1 rdna 2 sold. https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/what-generation-gpu-are-you-using.438606/#post-5926484 so it's all sounds more likeable until you actually have to buy a card for yourself. then it turns out you have a much wider varierty of nv cards to choose from. you count lhr as gimped but not 6500xt, lol.

amd says amd is better that is groundbreaking, except they think they're better every gen in innovation... that's and interesting metrics. they need multiple dies vs nvidia's single, that is innovative indeed, but the end users performance and price ? different matter. for example, how are they going to beat dlss, if they're ahead in innovation ?

This is it. They are late, lack innovation and still monolithic design.

Called it about two weeks back 🙂 You're right HH, it does make sense

it's been reported they're using prefixrl for higher density. for amd it's a necessity, they can't compete with nvidia when there's node parity and nvidia can produce much denser dies, have g6x, better rt and dlss. so yeah, mcm is an unexplored area as far as die design, but let's see if that translates to better really.

The annual, so-called Black Friday, (the day that more-or-less signals the beginning of the U.S. pre-Christmas shopping madness), falls on November 25th this year. I don't mean to suggest that the graphics card business revolves solely around the peculiarities of the American marketplace, but, if either AMD and/or Nvidia has actual products, ready to move, I'd be quite surprised if those items were not available to "add to cart" by that date.
TheDeeGee:

...Anyways, i can wait. RTX 3000 cards are still well above MSRP, so i'm not interested.
Personally, I've been skeptical of Nvidia's MSRP prices all along. (Unless, of course, buying from Nvidia directly.) For example, I've seen the 3050 at $300. I rather doubt I'll see one close to it's $249 MSRP anytime during 2022. If ever...

AMD seems pretty confident in rnda3. It is an unexplored area but the necessity and what he said was true "who ever is first with innovation has the advantage", they'll be forced to do so". That is exactly what happened with raytracing and dlss, nvidia had the advantage but we know amd will also have tensor cores and improved rt. This time nvidia is late and who knows if rtx 50 will be mcm.
