To everyone saying this is not impressive, really? Yes, Pascal was an incredible jump over Maxwell, but Nvidia had a new process node to design for and some apparently serious architectual increases to Maxwells efficiency. With Volta, they are on essentially the same process node (really just a 16nm++), and have produced 40% gaming gains along with some serious AI/Deep Learning hardware, with almost the SAME power draw. Nvidia spoiled everyone with Pascal--dont think every gen is going double performance at same power draw. With Volta they have built the largest, most dense silicon die (CPU or GPU) in the history of mankind on this thing. It probably cost ~1000 to manufacture just one, and it has no competition, so yeah, they can charge $3K for it and people with buy it, so you bet your ass they will keep prices as high as possible as long as people continue to buy it. Also, while it more than doubles score of Vega 64 in Superposition, I noticed V64 loses to even a 1070-- are these results right, is Vega just very weak in Unigine 2???

This is basically a glimpse of what's to come. I understand the criticism here price-wise. However, considering the last version was $10,000+, then, prices are dropping fast and they must have solved part of their yield issues. I would be surprised if the consumer cards have tensor cores, though. I'm expecting a 200watt or under consumer card to come after this.

This is a 800mm2 GPU, the **80 and **80Ti will have the tensor cores cut down, that alone should reduce the price a lot.

it is no longer acceptable to post benchmarks without including clock speed information. For all those other cards in the charts, you need to include what average clocks they were all running at for your tests. GPUs no longer have fixed clock speeds. These charts are often useless otherwise.

Looks promising. I can't wait to see xx80 and xx80Ti variants with GDDR5x or GDDR6. If they keep a trend +30% percent of performance to previous generation for mainstream gpus, I might upgrade my 2,5 year old card. 🙂 Also, I found a comparable 1080Ti results on the web and crunched some numbers. https://s2.postimg.org/stl2j1w6h/gpu_performance_compare.png Comparison for both cards running Superposition benchmark at 1080p resolution with Extreme settings. A user who uploaded results for 1080Ti said it was running OCed during the benchmark (source)

It's 54% faster than 1080ti. not bad considering it's clocked at just 1455mhz . I wonder if Volta can be overclocked to +2000 MHz like Pascal. this GPU at 2GHz will be a monster.

For compute even, buy 4 Tis for the same price, and blow this thing out of the water. Does nVidia aiming to commit financial suicide? Because I can see noone buying this, not even professionals.

Not a particularly impressive increase in performance over the Titan Xp: 40% increase in performance. The die size of Titan V is 70% larger than that of Titan Xp, and I was gonna comment that this is a large increase in size for just the 40% increase in performance seen, but Titan V die size includes the HBM2 memory, whereas Titan Xp die size is just the GPU core (it has GDDR5x). Considering the Titan V is based on a process shrink (12nm vs 16nm) I was expecting to see bigger performance differences. On the plus side it might mean that Pascal will stay relevant for longer!

Wow, this price is just obscene. At the most, this card should be 1500. At 3000 bucks, no one should buy this. This is nothing more than a money grab from rich fanboys.
Are you dumb? This isn't a consumer product. It's a computational card that costs 7000 less than the Tesla V100 whose sole purpose is also computational tasks including AI.

Good to see nvidia putting out a full bore chip(with fp64 and all the bells and whistles) on the "consumer" market , its been a while, last one was the kepler titan black if i recall.

True, but the Titan Xp card can also be overclocked & power slider increased (TDP), so I suppose it's best to compare like for like: either comparing stock to stock or overclocked to overclocked - probably the same ballpark 40% difference in performance between the two cards.

This thing blows 4 Tis out of the water for DL applications with a quarter power consumption at more than twice the speed (probably more than 9 times as DL often requires optimization for multi GPUs), and DL makes up a large portion of compute market. It also has more than 4 times FP64 performance, and probably games better in most games (which are poorly optimized for 4 cards) if someone decides to game on one's workstation.

so now ppl are whining about the low gaming performance of a non-gaming card, and the higher cost of ~3K when just the chip alone is about 1000$. did you guys go to school and learn how business works in a capitalistic world? at least last time i checked , that's where we were...

Ampere is the next gen gaming cards. Likely Volta based without the tensor cores.
