It's all bullshit. You only have to look at those numbers released by that shop yesterday. Overpricing, scalping, vapourware. People lining up like Homer Simpson at a carnival waiting for carnies to take his money.

Early this year, I was going to wait for this 3000 series release and hang on to my trusty 1070 a bit longer, but I got antsy and bought a 5700XT a few months back. It felt impulsive at the time but it feels a lot less so now.

Given that Micron won't be releasing 16Gb DDR6X memory chips in 2020, it would be either slower DDR6 or a different PCB to accomodate twice the chips like the RTX3090 which would increase the cost quite a bit.
So I'm going to say no.

They can launch a million cards if they want. What matters is getting them to users at home, which is really the problem. far too many shops have supply problems. and now they are gonna add 3070's,3060's and more 3080's ?? yeah right. foul play!

A 3070 Ti could be configured as a salvage setup using 3080 chips. With both 9, and 18, gigabytes of ram being an option. nVidia could drop those in to their lineup so as to rain on AMD's parade.

The bigger memory models only would make sense if they also increase the memory bandwidth on them.
Specially the 3070, which will probably suffer @4k because of only 448gb/s of memory. I know it's not enough for 4k, since I had a 2080, which had the same 448gb/s.
They should at least upgrade memory speed, like happened with the Geforce 2080 being upgraded to Super. That would make a big change in high resolutions, specially considering the high power of processing on the GPU itself.

@undorich
lol.
use a web search to find out how many OTHER space agencies have
taken pictures of the moon in the past 10-20y, that show the landing sites of Nasa missions,
or the fact that you can point a laser to the moon and it gets reflected back from a "dish" setup by Nasa.
Spoiler: "really"

So your an IT guru that 1. buys a product based on its name (vs performance level needed)
and 2. complain about the unknown price of a yet to be released product?
lol

in this day and age being an early adopter is an unwise thing to do.
