Too bad most media is 16:9. Who decided on making that a standard anyway?
Eye can extend field of vision by moving its fixation point up to 60° up, 75° down, 60° towards the nose, and 110° away from the nose. For both eyes the combined visual field is 135° vertical (up + down) and 220° horizontal (right away+left away). Basically, perfect aspect ratio would be 220°:135° ~= 1.63 ~= 16:10. 16:9 is fine because people tend to move their heads horizontally more. 60% of eye visual cortex is located inside just 10° FOV area (centre area of the eye with highest resolution). This means that limited money should be redirected into the centre of the monitor. 21:9 2160p is better than 16:9 2160p, but 16:9 2160p makes much more sense than 21:9 1080p, especially for FPS games where main focus is in the centre where gun reticle is.

If the new monitors aren't 4K @120hz+ then my money is staying firmly in my wallet.
You can have one its the new dell OLED 4k monitor - yours for just 5000$

I heard rumors of an even better monitor coming out with an even more impressive 25:2 Aspect Ratio and an unprecedented resolution of 10000 x 800P! They say you can have a 4 co-op match on the same screen while sitting side by side!! Can you believe that!!?
http://i.imgur.com/ZSNKrYK.png
6 player coop with the next iteration coming half a year later: :massacre: :D

no OLED? more waiting for me

I feel like OLED is no where near mature enough to be in a computer monitor that I'd want.

Still on a 1680x1050 16:10 IPS here, see no reason to upgrade really so will likely keep this until it gives up the ghost then get an higher res monitor whenever that is, hopefully 16:10 again. For high FPS/Hz games like Quake III/Live I have a 22" CRT sat next to it which is perfect for the job.

hmm 27" frameless 4k?? i buy one them cause that would be same size as my 24" with its frame.. But like it been said to bad no card can does 60fps at 4K, better question are they gona be g-sync/freesync? enabled, these monitors are still to few and between and still to expenisive. Still think Nvidia should release g-sync to all and lisecened it so ALL benefit

I say we will be waiting 10 more years...... if ever

Thanks but I'm gonna wait for graphic cards to catch up first, I just recently started to be able to game at my old 2560x1600 monitor with one card on 60+fps, that's not to say there won't be soon a game which again changes it back but it took 4 years of painful performance
This! ^^ Although Q3 is when we should see GPU's with DP1.3.

I will not agree with this. There are moments when I spot things coming from my side faster on a 21:9 monitors + it seems more visually appealing to me.

Wish someon release good 37-40" 4k 16:9 display. As someone already mentioned people using it for watching movies are not interested in ultra-wide.

Could it be that you are comparing 21:9 and 16:9 of equal height in your mind? For the same price you can get bigger and better 16:9. I could agree that 21:9 is good for racing games, but for proper 3D action, where things happen not only on a single horizontal level, but on different heights, 16:9 gives better theoretical results for the same money.

14 ms response time, basically is a led tv instead of a monitor XD
Hardly. Multiply that with three and you'll have something in the lower range of TV lag.
