At least you know what you are doing. I've a different concept of OC. I try to get the sweet spot frequency / voltage / noise. It's useless to add more voltage when you have reached the wall. 200 Mhz + are not worth.
I agree, that's why I stopped at 4.5Ghz and 1.29V (6700K). I set out with the target of using no more than 1.3V just to ensure years & years of longevity to sit alongside future GPU upgrades over the next 5+ yrs. The 1.5V talked about in this article is just too high, a very lazy & dangerous way to overclock by just clicking a preset overclock button that takes voltage this high!

Well running it 24/7 is just the best thing to do, when you have High CPU voltage. But turning the system ON and OFF is the thing that will kill the CPU, because the system voltage spikes can be so high in a split second, that it can burn the CPU internally. Something like this happen very recently to a YouTuber. I bet MSI didn't test the system's by turning it ON and OFF for 100 times to see if the CPU would survive. And a very good PSU can save your CPU to, that actually has voltage peak protections.
I feel like you are saying this because that's the jist of what Jayz said in his video. While what he said is technically true, he simplified it a lot. Simply turning on your PC isn't necessarily a problem - in Jayz case, turning a PC on within a fraction of a second after it shut down is the biggest problem. It causes the capacitors to not be discharged yet, which can cause a big voltage spike when turning it on again. Turning on a PC is not an issue at all if it's been turned off for a good few seconds. Saying that with a high voltage it's better to keep your pc turned on rather than shutting it down is spreading misinformation, honestly.

Looking at the article, this seems like a bit of a silly idea to me. Anyone with a serious interest in getting the most from their CPU will manually OC it. OC buttons / modes etc are an easy way to get a bit more from your K processor, I cannot see how auto-OC'ing at the extreme end of a processors capability is going to end well. Medium OC's can be done automatically because there is room to spare with the voltages etc, but 5.2GHz ? It seems a step too far.

It's kinda weird what MSI is doing. The OC profile for my X99A Gaming 7 is very soft. Anyway we are far away from a safe auto OC. I was talking with a guy some months ago about 5820K OC and we compared our result, (my cpu 4,5Ghz@1,25v, but this guy has auto overclocked his 5820k on Asus mobo @4,6Ghz) I asked for the voltage, but he told me "I dunno".... I warned him to check the voltages... I met him 2 week later and his CPU was fried.
