It will be a damaged usb cord, you can replace usb cords as they are basically the same, get an old usb mouse and use the cord for your mouse... I've done the same. If you don't know what each wire does you can easily just google it :>
I'll have to try that. Finally, one of those cheap Dell mice can be of real use. I'll eventually buy one of the g400 mice to see how that is. (thanks to RealNC for the heads up). I don't have a stockpile of mx518's like vase has. No wonder we can't find any! 🤓

The G400 and G400s were discontinued too quite a while ago. Whatever units you find available right now are left-over stock. They won't be there for long. I'd get a couple of G400s. Small improvements over the MX518/G400 but virtually identical.

I used Logitech's G400s for 2 years. Great mouse. It's basically MX518 without the angle snapping. Supposedly G400s has a bug where left to right movement tracks more distance (lower dpi) than right to left movement (higher dpi), but I never noticed. Nowadays I use a Logitech G403, which supposedly has a better sensor, but I can't tell the difference. It has RGB lighting however! :eyes:

I have a Strike 7 keyboard. The piece is superb, the software for it is garbage. And that makes it bad. At the time I bought it, I was looking for something modular without losing the minidisplay of my Logitech. Little did I know that the display on the Strike 7 would have little to no use.

They made good quality gear in very bad shapes. They 'are' peripheral division of Saitek and no Saitek ever failed me. I still have Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit. It works as well as it did day 1. From Mad Catz, I have Joy: FLY 5 & Gamepad: Cyborg V.3 Rumble Pad (Capable to switch around D-Pad with Stick. Those were like last great devices from them as they were direct inheritance from Saitek designers. Now Mad Catz has only devices which bet on extravaganza look, and momentary lapse of judgement in customer. With V.3 Rumble Pad, I have better sticks (much more linear feel) than PS4. No sharp edger around LR12. LR2 are more natural in resistance. Additional Precision Aim button. Only disadvantage is that I have cable. But in those years I am using this gamepad, any battery would be dead. And best thing is that those older mad Catz devices are actually fully compatible with Saitek's macro programming software. = = = = Who is going to pay for ugly, unpleasantly shaped "Street Fighter V" gamepad same money as PS4 DualShock 4 costs? They should have kept those old great devices available. And update compatibility to PS4. (My V.3 Rumble Pad is PS2/PS3 compatible.) I am happy for this gamepad, It serves well for so many years. Maybe that's actual economy fail as other brands fail after 2 years and people get new ones.

No, Saitek were a division of Mad Catz but the Saitek name and stuff was sold to Logitech late last year in order to raise some cash. I love my X56 Rhino, but reliability does appear to be dubious from reviews.

While I feel for all affected employees, I can't say a company selling outrageously overpriced niche-looking gear going bankrupt is a surprise.

The G400 is exactly the same as the MX518 (well, it is a newer MX518.). It's easier to find than the MX. I'd try and find 2 or 3 of them if I were you :P I went from MX518 to G400 myself many years ago, and it was really pretty much exactly the same mouse just with different name and different color. Otherwise, 100% identical, except with a better sensor. The newer G400s is also almost identical. I never used one though, but it should be the same too. You can still find both the G400 as well as the G400s new on sites like Amazon.
Also, shell, front button PCB, scroll and cable are interchangeable between all models of: MX500, MX510, MX518, G400 & G400S. So don't throw the old ones away, you can sometimes fix one of these with parts of the other.

I'm late to this party but I'll add that I had been given a mad catz xbox 360 wired controller that my friend didn't need. The left trigger had a catch in the middle when you'd squeeze it. I thought it was just broken or worn out. Later I bought the same controller new and IT HAD THE SAME CATCH IN THE LEFT TRIGGER. These guys are authorized by MS to make these controllers but their quality was terrible. Good riddance to bad garbage.
