There is no basis for trying to figure out how much it will cost. Intel has never even hinted at the pricing. Everything is pure speculation, but it will probably be closer the $1000 mark.
Like I said, nowhere close to the $1000 USD mark. These will easily hit ~$2400.00 CAD with tax and shipping. http://search.ncix.com/products/?sku=129720

If I didn't already have the 5960x, I would get it. I'll wait to see what Skylake-E looks like. Hopefully 12 or 16 cores with 8-channel 3200 MHz memory.
Same, better to wait for Skylake-E if you already own a 5960X. Unless you absolutely must 'win' at Cinebench 😉

I picked up a xeon x5690 for $390au. Vast improvement from my i7-950. Even though I only use my system for gaming, I have seen 20-25% improvement in frame rate just from CPU alone. Not gonna spend $1750 on 10-core CPU, plus I'd have to upgrade my MB and RAM. Instead, I'm gonna drop $2400 on 2 x ASUS 1080 STRIX. Will see huge improvement over my 2 x 7970 GHZ 6GB radeons. Will finally be able to game at ultra in 4k! Been looking forward to this for a while!

I doubt you will see8 channel memory. I mean where would you put all those ram dimms then? 😀 even quad channel is a bit overkill with all those dimms But I hope on entry 8core though.. Well it should be logical if I go by past entry upgrades. Sandybridge, Ivybridge : 4core entry Haswell, Broadwell:6core entry Skylake, cannonlake: 8core entry EDIT: or there will be 6channel ram after all lol http://www.tweaktown.com/news/52336/intels-next-gen-skylake-processor-arrive-lga-3647-socket/index.html Also new huge socket - LGA 3647

8 cores are more than enough for gaming at the moment. Seems Skylake-E will still be using LGA-2011, but possibly V4 of the socket. 6 channel memory as well. Skylake-E looks pretty boring from a technology standpoint. Nothing new. Will wait for Kaby Lake X.
Yah, a good thing about buying the EE every few cycles is that you really do get your money's worth for the most part. I'm still running a 3930K in my HTPC and it is still a great chip (even if the X79 platform is a little dated now) and you can always throw in add in cards for more SATA 3.0, USB 3.0 et al.

Ive seen em at Micro Centerhttp://www.microcenter.com/product/463389/Core_i7-6950X_30GHz_LGA_2011-3_Intel_Processor $1,599.99 So just a penny under $1600 dollars.I hate when they price items that way to make em look cheeper lol.Why not just say 1600 plus tax?! No $1,599.99 Looks cheeper haha.Oh for sure now I will buy one! I have a couple of buddys that still work there that can get these through the Intel edge program.....They end-up costing 1/3 the price . I think I might have to dig-up my little black book soon.
