Quite disappointed.... Was expecting more from Haswell
Certainly not worth the upgrade for 2600k owners

Wasn't even an option for me anyway. I was planning to hold off until Broadwell to upgrade this PC. Right now I'm focusing on building an FM2 based HTPC. Still disappointing results nonetheless...

I was hoping for some better performance for 4770K but after after midnight testing I am disappointed... God bless 2600K 🙂 Benchmark: http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/8303/91175754.jpg Waiting for 5th gen... :eyebrows:

Only a handful of reviewers did temp comparison test http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4610211&postcount=133 That's why I didn't bother mentioning TPU above. Because -10C is a little too much difference with everyone else's measurements to be explainable as a CPU sample variation.
Water is must if people plan on OC , over at Legit they overclocked only to 4.2ghz and hit 90c mind you that was with stock cooler, still doesn't look great.

I just want to know if: 1 - disabling the onboard GPU decreases those horrible temperatures. 2 - deliding it is simple or if Intel went full Intel and used hyper glue from hell just to be even bigger trolls.

edit: nvm

http://i.imgur.com/Yw0YUhm.gif One of HW reviewers on ES chips
Idle is comparable or lower than IVB. Load is a bit higher, due to the iVR, but actual CPU consumption is roughly less. I measure power for board reviews via the 8-pin EPS connector only, while I see some sites reporting full system numbers of ES CPUs that match my retail CPU figures via the 8-pin, and since they did not reach higher overclocks than I did(which a CPU with better power consumption should, based on my own samples), I have to question their results. I have had three chips, two I still have in my possession, and both are retail. Review using ES are kinda BS, in my books. I don't have any NDA with Intel, so I could tell you the differences between retail and ES, and they are quite big differences, but I'll leave that up to sites that used ES chips for review. All of TPUs reviews were done with retail chips.

Guess we'll see how it pans out over the next few weeks but this doesn't bode well for IVY-E. I was targeting that as my next potential upgrade but it's starting to look like controlling the heat on 6 cores is going to be tough!

They can make a better CPU to Heat spreader contact for the 6 core designs. Perhaps this is why they havent improved the 4 cores much so they have some headroom.

Meh .. I want to see RoadKillNL review :P When is your stuff coming?
Not sure, the Memory wasn't in stock. Said 2-3 days. I think Thursday.

That would be nice but I'm not holding my breath at the moment, may well end up de-lidding otherwise.

I'm on OLD i5 750 , overclocked to 4.2Ghz right now and i cant see any benefits from upgrading to Haswell, and i'm 3 generations behind. Something is going wrong with game development or CPU development ...not sure which.

Well coming from X58 i have quite some reasons to upgrade. Some of my other Hardware is being hold back due to limitations. And i might be able to ask a good 300 Euros for my current CPU, Memory and Motherboard. If i wait another year i can throw it in the bin.

yup, a 4770k @ 3.5ghz is going to be ~20% faster than a 750 @ 4ghz and as you say, a 750 definitely bottlenecks current generation graphics cards.

I think I will wait a little, the build when from 350$ some change for i5 3750 + MB +16gb ram to $500+ for i7 4770 + MB+ 16gb. And I want to get New Case and one of them Noctua NH-U12S.

I ordered the NH-U14S + Extra Fan with my 4770K. I did want to get a D14, but they ship with old Fans. And after a mail to Noctua they said they don't plan to change that.

I've been waiting for Haswell and now I'm stuck if I should get it or not. Having an Intel sata6 vs the crap Marvell sata6 would be nice for my ssd but what else, ya know. You guys think since I have SLI that it may be a good benefit?
