And hope that Windows XX controlling the car will not decide to install new drivers right during the ride. PS Ten likes for the radio song suggestion.
That's where you step in, to code some stuff and prevent WU to mess up anything during test drive, me next to you waiting with fire extinguisher just in case 😉 together in car trunk hahaha: "...cmon guys, you've told us there is plenty of space in Tesla's trunk... open up guys, it's not funny!...".

We should not be in that same car. I should collect trace logs to be able to fix bugs in software (it is known bug in all programmers` brain - dislike to work with code of other guys), and you should be ready to use fire extinguisher. So we can ride behind in some cosy big car (I am 190cm)...

The thiefs copy signal method sounds very easy to defeat. A separate chip can be embedded into the original key (with a rolling code signal) that is distance based and programmed to alert the owner with option to track or disable the car. Or to call your phone and pop-up a GPS map of your cars location when it is out of range, etc. Seriously, I think multiple ways can be quickly deployed to defeat the copy signal trick.

Car can just ask for a password/pin before starting the engine.

Sure.. maybe even better is to come out with a strong anti-deterrent measure. Like disabling the car and locking its doors so thief cant escape. Maybe even releasing some knockout gas 😀. Serious deterrence can be most effective and ensure high tech car thefts are simply not worth attempting.

For the car to be really secure they should implement mandatory prostate exam every 30 seconds for dna sampling ! None will steal it then

My bad luck to have gotten onto the site by the time the loons were let out for the day! Prostrate exams & knockout gas, have they moved April Fool's day without letting me know? Great to see this problem given as much publicity as possible but it's not exactly new noos as the story about the problem was on the London Evening Standard front page about two months ago. Before I collected my Golf R in April, I had a Disclock delivered as it covers the whole of the steering wheel. Yellow and 5 kgs of steel. If they get past that, they're welcome tbh.

This is why I fart in my car before I get out.

Mr. Mercedes approved.

Looks like I will be keeping my Jags keys in a box and a lot further away from the car overnight. I do love not having to remove keys from my pocket to use my car its hard work pressing a button on a fob and putting key in the ignition.

Guys it seems to me that we can assemble pretty strong inventive car team/studio to produce avant-garde ideas and sell them to big companies.

My '05 Acura has wireless keys. I can't really see this as an issue for car theft. Range extension might get you somewhere to strip the car, but you won't be getting too far driving it without the key. It shuts off after 10 minutes if you leave it running without the key inside. The Cadillac and Nissan I've had long term use which had wireless keys also react that same way. Most all of the tech in our cars can be hacked but it takes some serious hacking abilities, the proper software and typically you must be in very close proximity.

@chris well is not like we are going to solve Mercedes security here, so we are just making some jokes good or bad to be fair this is still more secure than traditional car locks where i saw people opening cars with a screwdriver with in few seconds ...although you damage the door , now if they indeed copy the key signal ...all someone has to do if you indeed keep your key away at nights , is get close to you at some point during the day ...maybe on the bakery ....or what ever they copy your key and at night they just walk up to the car and drive away

Yeah but pushing a button on the FAB is so exhausting. Slaves of convenience.
