Wow, this would be very nice, would even try Nvidia for the first time in ages too.

Awesome! I've been planning to upgrade to an RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080 once stock normalizes, but I'd happily take this as an upgrade to my GTX 1080, which I've had for over 4 years now!

Loophole35:

I feel the 2080 super was a little under rated. This is a great 1440p card, and usualy only about 10-15% behind the 2080ti in performance. Entered because CP2077 is killing my poor 1080ti.
It really wasn't under rated at all. Yes, it's a great card with performance that'll satisfy most users, but it was way too expensive at $700. It was barely 5% faster than the 2080 it replaced, which was barely 5% faster than the 1080 Ti at launch (though that gap has admittedly grown with Turing driver maturity and games better utilizing DX12/Vulkan). There's a reason you never bought this with your own money to upgrade from your 1080 Ti.

Having previously owned a 2080s can certainly vouch for it being a decent card for most things even if it is a bit old now

The reason I didn't buy one with my own money is because I didn't need to upgrade for any game when the 20xx cards were current gen. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2080ti a few times but ultimately decided to wait for 30xx or 6xxx. If you are basing your assessment of the performance difference of the 1080ti and 2080/S off Hilbert's reviews you may need to realize all top cards at that time were CPU bottlenecked at 1080 and 1440 because of the Haswell-E CPU that was his test rig. Hilbert has since changed the benchmark rig twice once to the 9900k and again the the new one with the 5950x both of which are not bottlenecking top end cards.

7870 of mine is screaming for retirement 🙂
Same for my 660 - custom fan curve, noisy since the fans go out of balance at certain %. Good luck 🙂
