SplashDown:

I see the demand for the 3070 being higher than the demand for 3090 & 3080 I would think with it being more affordable, so this is gonna suck. I hope AMD's Big Navi is a hit. Or maybe I'll get lucky and Cyberpunk will run good at 1080p on my 980ti, but not counting on it.
As long as you're not running ray tracing which has been a complete failure in my opinion, I think Cyberpunk will run just fine.

(already above 2000 Euro for 3090, and over 1000 Euro for a 3080 (thx D. Trump)). total benefit.
Donald J. Trump is not responsible for the imbecile behaviour of our UE leaders, he actually proposed to us several times a complete free trade between USA and UE, which all were refused swiftly.

The "high demand" keeps the share price high to pay for the ARM deal, assuming US, EU, UK and China all agree to go through. If he said there is supply issue, the share going to collapse and the ARM deal is no go because more than half will be paid in shares who are twice the real value atm. (aka NV is a stock bubble)
I dont buy that at all nor do I think it has anything to do with ARM deal.. Furthermore, it would be wrong time to pull shit like that with AMD about to release RDNA2 which has got them so paranoid in the first place. Imagine the horror on JHH's face when all the usual Nvidia consumers get impressed with AMDs cards and switch sides due to no stock.

I feel 3000 series is the 7700K of 2020 but won't be faced with a Zen 1 but with a Zen 3 (RDNA2) from the outset. 😛 (AMD said last year that RDNA1 was the equivalent of Zen1)

I will not enter in that too much, because we were working on both side of atlantic (double penality)... but think that the "free trade" USA/UE were only a one way benefit only and so inacceptable... The good point is that it open up Russia and Asia for us. Sadly the bad point is that US company have hard time to export too (the +25% on USA production price) and loose lot of market share (and close factory).

This could turn out to be one of the worse launches in history imo. The 3080 launched almost four weeks ago and it's still MIA, such a fail, love the cards but the launch, waw.

This release has been a complete fustercluck. After 7 straight nvidia cards (for my personal rigs), I went with AMD last time (price). If nvidia keeps this up, it's looking like buying AMD gpu's may be my new trend.

Think you'll find its AMD being competitive for the first time in 3 generations, this whole Nvidia launch seemed rushed from every stage.
I hadn't thought about it those terms but it does make a certain amount of sense. I can see how they could have released cards way before they had enough inventory ready to create a high demand as a preemptive shot at AMD, to "steal their thunder." I really hope AMD has some good cards ready. I also hope Google wins their lawsuit and we see CUDA running on AMD GPUs soon.

Pre ordered an Asus Tuff 3080 earlier today after reading this, it's a grim situation but I am hearing news that AIB's are ramping up production as we near the end of this month so while I'm not expecting to get my card this year there's still hope, fingers crossed I guess and I can always cancel if AMD's offerings turn out better,

Worst launch in history. If AMD can compete then nobody will care about the 30 series in 2021.
I have actually forgotten about the 30 series already, like the film Captain Marvel - the 3090 was on my list...a list that AMD is making me rewrite on a near daily basis.

eBay , no shortage, some sellers have 20 in stock, well i am going to get drunk !

ITGuru:

So it will run 20%-25% slower than a 2080 TI, the end of the World..... This may have a lot more to do with US elections, possible stock markets and inveitable dollar dive if the Democrats win, this may or may not stabilize in the near future...we're entering unknown territory here. The whole situation in US and the dollar is very...how can i put it...."delicate". I believe that is the real reason for the "shortages".
Not every buyer is 'murican...

When i read the title saying the shortage will last through 2021 i thought you meant the shortage problem will last until 2022....
Yep, there is missing a "to"... "the shortage will last through TO 2021" - as it is written, it means that shortage will last till 2022...

No worries, ain't got the money for it anyways. 😕

It should say "through 2020" which means to the end of 2020 which is what he said, unless Hilbert knows something we don't 🙂

demand issue? probably out of stock at the Nvidia kitchen leatherette video. now manufacturing 20 or so gpu's a week with a 100 million waiting

NVIDIA has a huge chip on a problematic node, which results in terrible yields. On top of that they have rushed their launch, obviously way before they could have build any stock for it and with what seems like driver issue on top of it. So, I'm not sure why JHH would make this blatantly false statement. Does he really think that everyone reading this are idiots?

I don't think most of these matter, they are going to supply x number of units per month regardless to whether they waited or not, driver issue or not. I also don't think the node is problematic, I think Nvidia is selling the 3080Ti as a 3080 and that's why the supply is problematic. Regardless, Nvidia told investors they'd hit a certain volume of sales for the quarter (significantly higher than previous quarters FWIW) - so if he's lying it would show in the quarterly report - if they meet those numbers or exceed them then they supplied what they predicted and demand simply outstripped it and that's that.
