Finally we're starting to see performance differences because of better competition...but I'm done upgrading the CPU often as for me and almost anyone the GPU sets the performance more than anything anyhow.
5800x Geekbench 5 score:

Single-Core Score
10815
Multi-Core Score
The last time I ran it

so Intel next gen with DDR5 is as good as AMD last gen? Nice
Well shame on AMD not having DDR5 even in next gen /s

been that way with ddr3 too,basic ddr4 was 2133 c15 but ddr3 2133 c9 ran circles around it
it wasn't until 3000 c16 that standard ddr4 matched high performance ddr3
i hope for zen3+ on ddr4,the selling point for ddr5 will be capacity mainly
early ddr5 is like molasses
what you're seeing is 4800 cl40 while we have 4800 c19 kits on ddr4 available at 115eur

Meanwhile I'm still on my 4 GHz clocked i7 5960X still nicely working in tandem with a 3080ti in 3840x1600 resolution. Still it's good that the almost standstill that has plagued CPUs for almost a decade is finally over. Now we need GPUs fast enough for those new CPUs....or SLI back. Then again the upcoming chiplet design is kinda SLI on a single card.

These leaks do not make sense.
Multicore speed.
The 12700 looks to be about equal to a 5800x
The 12900k is faster then a 5950x
That is a huge jump between 12700 and 12900k, both highpower 8core 16thread.
The 8 lowpower cores needs to be almost as fast as the highpower cores to double up on the performance, why bother with the highpower cores, if 8 lowpower cores are as fast as 5-6 highpower cores.
I am guessing this 12900k is overclocked or Intel is factory clocking this thing far past any efficiency crossover.
