Great little game! Certainly a nice one for free! Launcher is just the downloader/Installer front end--don't need it to run the game--I run the game directly from its executable and nothing but the game is running, I've noticed, so launcher does not have to run in order for this game to run. That's nice. I hope that all of their games will be handled like that. So, like GOG games, no need (even with Galaxy--all Galaxy-installed and updated games can be run directly from their exe--bypassing Galaxy completely if you like) to run a front end like Steam in order to run the game. Some Steam games do allow you to run from the game exe without running Steam at all--Witcher 3, PoE, etc.--for instance. But how Epic will handle every game remains to be seen, of course. But things are further along and more organized that I thought they were at first.

Thank you so much for these particular heads ups! Even though Subnautica is kind of sucky, I managed to get Company of Heroes 2 with my friend for free because of your site and it has been a blast! Jesus bless all your house and family if it's up to me, whoever writes these articles.

I grabbed this for vr, not to bad actually, kind of a explore, gather, craft, explore further, gather more rare, craft better stuff, explore even further....and so on.

I get that odd security email for my Ubisoft account once in awhile. Seem it's fine. I rarely play those games anyways.
I went to get this and forgot I even had the Epic client already. Not sure why people refuse a free game. Grab it, uninstall the client and keep Subnautica. Or don't. Whatever. Why does everything need to be on Steam?

No launcher involved on steam. I've never had to register anywhere.

this game was underwhelming and came out of greenlight missing features i expected to be key gameplay, such as co-op play (the escape pod was even designed for 2 people)

Nothing really free here. Epic paid off developers for "free" games and for exclusivity so they publish on Epic store instead of Steam. When you dig deeper into this matter there are a lot of ugly truths. Basically this is a trap so people install Epic launcher, because over wise no one would touch it except Fortnite players who don't care about buying games.

Has anyone found out how not to get Fortnite forced into downloading with the store? Only way I found was halting the download and then deleting the game from account's inventory. Why would they need to push Fortnite in such a way if it is as popular as the media would like everyone to believe.
Either way have Subnautica installed.
As far as UT, UT3 was ok but still have all original six cds of UT2004. Have all the patches and additional content saved and play that still to just zone out and relax at times.
