2021 is one of the worst years ever, to buy a PC. Why ? pc's weren't infected with covid

Yes they (supply chain!) are, and even more with mining - All leading to silly high prices, AND unavailability of many parts... 😀 I hardly found a new PSU last winter (had no choice mine was dying), and have ended up quite overpaying for it 😕

Ok ive been using it on my gaming/work laptop all day, mixture of gaming and database/documents stuff plus some encoding all with Start 11 and all is good. Had it on my main gaming PC and cracked the same workloads for a few hours but this rig i didnt put on Start 11. So in its vanilla form its less sexy looking and slightly less user friendly than with Start 11 but using the folders is simpler and more natural, no glitches or bugs, the installs went smoothly. Il run it on both machines for a couple more days then update my other rigs.

All this hate towards the future. And yeah you can joke all you want that the future is full of bugs, too bad you'll never know if its actually true though. Keep living under a rock.

Just updated The process was the fastest I've see yet. 1/2 hour and it was done. Well worth the upgrade. Knock on wood, So far compatibility is not an issue with installed software. The OS is also noticeably faster. Everything is snappier.

On all work computers, will hold on on what's being used. Upgrading for the sake of upgrading or just for a release date, will not do. In the meantime, I enjoyed this. [youtube=tHVsn9oo0kM]

To get some functionality back to win11 one has to look back to previous versions when it comes to explorer, taskbar and start-menu: https://www.startallback.com/

I'll give this a miss until something doesnt work that Win 11 has a cure for. I only use Win 10 for gaming, theres no need to change it.

That wasn't the only problem. Vista had a lot of unnecessary bloat, the product lineup was over-complicated, there was software compatibility issues, and it was unstable until SP1 came out. These growing pains were overall a necessary evolution, but you just can't screw with things that much on an OS like Windows. All that being said, it didn't deserve the amount of hate it got, but it was a legitimately bad OS.
Windows 11 does kind of feel like a Vista moment. Its obviously not as baked in as it should be. If MS waited until like March or so to really iron out all the kinks I think people would receive it better.

I think most people won't receive it at all because they don't meet the minimum requirements xD

Well i am going to need more popcorn to watch how this unfolds ... With my ryzen 1600 and my inability to update my gtx 1060 .... I see no point to update immediately my cpu as well no matter what cpu i pair with my 1060 it will remain a 1060 ! Hopefully till 2025 i would be able to update my cpu and gpu and then decide if i am going to 11 .

Agonist:

Vista wasnt bad. I had far less trouble with it then XP. Problem was it was totally different then XP. Lots of XP drivers didn't work and people were mad their POS 512mb single core ran vista like crap. In fact, Vista SP1 is just Win 7 with a different skin. BTW, it went Win 98, 98SE, Win ME, Win 2000 before XP.
Win2000 was actually released before WinME.... There was actually Win95 (and the lettered releases), Win95/97, Win98, Win98SE, Win2K, WinME, WinXP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10..... People always seem to get things wrong when they discuss "good" vs "bad" Windows releases..... People seem to forget how unstable WinXP was at launch. At launch, WinXP was the king of BSoDs.... It took a service pack to fix enough bugs to get XP stable. I still remember trying to file bug reports for WinXP as a beta tester.....and MS seemingly ignoring most of the bug reports.
Lebon30:

The problem is way overblown to be honest. It really shows that you are in an echo chamber. I remember the days when Vista was introduced. People were flipping over the new system requirement and how their hardware needed new drivers, more RAM, more storage for a basic install... Yet, in the end, people got over it. Hell, they EMBRACED it when Windows 7 came around. So, Windows 11 is a bit like XP to Vista. OEM of new PC had the choice of putting more than 512GB of RAM or not. Hardware manufacturers had the choice to rewrite their drivers or not when MS introduced the new system. With Win10 to 11, Microsoft always had the TPM and Secure Boot pre-requisite for OEM for a very long time. Now, they just make it mandatory at large. It's more akin the system requiement bump from the XP to Vista days.
People have a real short memory.....

I ran the media creation tool just a little bit ago.... Between finding the tool, downloading the tool and running the tool, 10 minutes..... Fastest media creation I've ever seen. I had to double check that it actually put something on the flash drive. I'll be going through the upgrade process later... Hopefully it's just as fast and painless for me as it was for you.

Most people will "receive" it just fine, if they end up with it.... "Enthusiasts" are typically less enthusiastic about any degree of change than the average user is.

I installed it today and so far so good. Feels a little bit more snappy than 10. Only gripe as someone who has multiple sound devices is that you can't click on the speaker icon to get a drop down list. You have to go through multiple layers to get it. Was relieved that the old control panel is still tucked away. I had a shortcut on my desktop to sound settings and it still works. So I'm pretty happy. Only game I played today was Division 2, probably my imagination, but it seems a little smoother. My ancient Presonus Audiobox vsl44 still works with integrated hardware mixer and effects using drivers that predate Win 10 which was a relief.

The improved multi monitor support, well the less broken one is worth it for me. I am fed up of windows moving and resizing after monitors sleep.

Am I the only one who just doesn't really use the Windows GUI that much? I don't use the start menu, I don't use the widgets and task bar addons or whatever... I just use my apps to do things :| I don't even use the file explorer.

I decided to try it out, and so far, I don't really see anything all that different. Nothing worthy of note performance-wise. It feels just like an iterative update that they used to do for 10 with a slightly more polished (or annoying, depending on your point of view) GUI . I suppose the devil is in the details, most likely in privacy.
