How are you clean installing your drivers?
Download new drivers Uninstall old drivers. Reboot. Install new drivers. Reboot. Check for duplicate entries in device manager with 'set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1' through elevated command prompt and remove old monitors from device manager. Setup three monitors to custom refresh rate (has to be done for each monitor indipendently if you want custom refresh rate to stick with Eyefinity). Create Eyefinity group. Adjust bezel compensation (6048x1080). Re-load personal color calibration for each indipendent monitor and for Eyefinity group. Disable side-monitors after disabling Eyefinity so that each time Eyefinity is disabled to play a game that doesn't support Ultra-wide resolutions, the unused side screens stay inactive. This doesn't happen automatically for all games unfortunately, some games decide to run on each screen as a separate monitor, so you end up having three instances of the game running. Run CCleaner. Run defrag. This procedure is easily above 30 minutes. As for running DDU, I personally think it is useless, if not harmful, to use it EVERY single time. As a I see it and as I think the author sees it as well, it should be used only to fix driver installation quirks or when installing a new GPU. Doing an over-the-top installations retains all Eyefinity settings and custom refresh rates, shaving a good 20 minutes off the above-mentioned painstaking routine.

I've just been doing upgrade installs w/o issue. One of the reasons why I left NVIDIA is because I could no longer do upgrade installs, but I had to do full clean uninstalls else I had to deal with instability issues.

Yeah good move. If they will launch WHQL drivers you need to uninstall, will be much better. IMO the best drivers are WHQL,more stable and better performance in games bench, not synthetic benches. 16.9.2 WHQL is really good.

Now i have a Fast way of Installing ATI/AMD Drivers 🙂 Unpack it and When asked to Upgrade, cancel Go into Device Manager and Install from Here -> After That restart and then go for Setup and Upgrade. That way is Fast & OK -> Drivers working NP (Mantle/Vulcan/DX12 also)

This bug "H.264 content playback may experience playback issues on internet browsers with hardware acceleration when also running gaming applications or content." is only on 16.11.3?

Do you guys install these over the top or do a clean install everytime? With so many versions coming out one after another, it's becoming a bit too time-consuming for me.
I don't use DDU to install new driver. I would have to make my custom resolutions every single if I did DDU with CRU. Also would have to redo eyefinity setup every single time too. I only use it when I have an issue which is very very rare anymore.

It appeared in the issues list probably when 16.11.1 came out. Might be related to previous UVD clocks being kept on 3D loads, not specifically the CGN 1.0 problem some users like me have been complaining about since 16.7.2 that also affects idle.

I suppose installing newer drivers over exsisting ones wil work ok nowadays. But if one wants to go back to previous drivers I feel DDU is necesary to avoid leftover "new" .dll files and the likes. Which could create future issues. I stick with 16.11.2 for now since I don't have any real problems and don't have the patience nor stomach to update drivers 3 or 4 times a month. I still don't understand why they can't patch current drivers with hotfixes and leave full installs for real changes in their driver versions. Is it laziness?

I always install new drivers over the older one and have never had an issue. Safe mode? DDU? not needed.

I've noticed this on 16.10.3 as well. When i have a GIF playing core and memory will downclock to the point where there is lots of stuttering in-game. Granted gifs are probably not h.264 content.

I can confirm this. Didn't check GIFs, though, but it happens on normal H264 playback with HW acceleration enabled.

I do the same. BUT, when something doesn't look right, then I use DDU.

About the same here although in addition I do a clean install whenever there's a major jump in driver branch such as the earlier jump from xx.30.xx to xx.40.xx 🙂 (First two digits are just the year so I don't care too much about those, no idea what the other digits truly mean though.) I don't use DDU however, prefer to do it manually and clean it out that way even if it takes a bit of time. (DDU is probably one of the best tools for it though if you want to use a software for uninstalling the entire driver package and bundled extras like the CNext/CCCSlim stuff and such.)

I just run the AMD Install Manager from the Programs & Features to uninstall the drivers, then after the reboot, i just install the new ones, never had a prob.

Even thats not needed these days...if have installed the last 15 or what ever drivers over each other lol....if the driver has a known bug theres no getting around it anyway (most times)
