Umm , win 10 does update on odd hrs if u postpone it multiple times. Happened to me during a very long gaming session. Thats when services -> windows update+ background intelligent transfer, etc. Were turned off, and still are. Thank you M$ for this cool feature xD

Nothing better than MSMG ToolKit https://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/50572-MSMG-ToolKit to create a custom Windows 10 installation USB ISO without the bloatware. If you castrate too much some cumulative updates will fail to install, but can remedy by creating a new updated USB ISO and update from there, but must also have to disable internet during the procedure. Can get the updates from http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx or https://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/57050-Windows-10-Hotfix-Repository NTLite is also interesting, but not free. https://www.ntlite.com/ There is also the Windows 10 Post Install Debloat [WIP] https://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/72801-Windows-10-Post-Install-Debloat-WIP I did not test yet because prefer the custom ISO.
Cheers, will make sure to look into it once I get to get dirty with Win10.

Boring. What comes next... Office Mode or maybe we'll get a Porn Mode. Seriously Make the OS stable for everything, Job Done! Dont need no special modes.

Jesus people, all these comments attacking Microsoft for making a game mode, what? would you rather they did nothing at all, and not try any new features whatsoever, lets all go back to windows 3.1 why don't we. Even if it doesn't make any noticeable difference, at least they are trying new features, and its optional so if you don't like it or it bugs out on some games, just turn it off.

I could be wrong but I think u can only disable windows auto updates if u have the pro version for some of us with the home edition we don't get that. Also if u leave your computer on all the time or u work the same hours everyday setting the timed updates works but it doesn't for everyone personally I do shift work and leaving the computer on all the time doesn't make sense 18 cent kwh during the day. The windows updates are the single most annoying thing in w10 that can only be disabled (at least for me ) through manually going into services and disabling it.

Things like "Game Mode" always sound good in theory. The problem is games require many system resources and these resources can be different for each game. In practice, I would be willing to bet that there are many games out there utilizing system resources that Windows will shut down while in "Game Mode". This will cause many headaches. Although, those resource-intensive (NOT!) UWP games from the Windows store should benefit greatly. Imagine bejeweled in "Game Mode"! Such smooth video with less dropped frames and such... On the other hand, if Game Mode really works for most games (even non-UWP), the PC will increase the gaming performance gap between PCs and consoles immensely.
The big problem is people are expecting this to be a magic tool to fix all performance issues, when it will not. What it will do is free up resources for long term stability. People use the Razor app mainly for eSports games. And people usually use the argument "WELL RAZOR DOES THIS ALREADY" or "YOU CAN DISABLE APPS AND SERVICES YOURSELF." Yes, both of those are true, but to me it seems silly to download and run another 3rd party service when the OS itself is more than capable of it, and some people do not know how or what services to disable, or may need some services turned on again.

It'll still interrupt your gameplay session and update itself regardless, won't it? That's the reason I'm still not using Win10
Not sure what you're talking about. Have used windows 10 since day one, and have not experienced this once. Have not witnessed this actually happening to anyone except for people who decided to set their PC to update at a specific time and forgot to change it, aka user error.

I hope that this Game Mode is tied into newer games rather than legacy older titles because I can't see this working out for older titles considering the older titles can run on Newer hardware just fine with some manual tweaks if need be. Plus I hope that this game mode doesn't auto turn on when a game is launched. I'd rather be given the option of using it like on AV programs that provide a game mode feature.

eh I removed most the "xbox" related apps from the my system. I also dont want an overly of any kind running and this and from reading that There is an overly and must be enable when the game is running threw said overly.

I'm hoping it does more than that as Razor's software and manually tweaking doesn't help performance. What im interested in, is the fact that it's might not just be a copy of that software, but something more that could have developer created "profiles" based on the game you play.

I'm sure ive read it has the ability to auto turn on based if the game has support for it, not sure if that could be overwritten though.

I will have a wait and see attitude on performance gains. I wanted to add i have Windows 10 locked down (gpe and telemetry at a minimum and some services disabled) and have not updated to the anniversary 1511 update. Prior due to my work i would get a message that updates are ready and i could install like i wanted with no more messages on updates. Now with 1511 sitting wanting to update i get interrupted (even when gaming) a few times a day to install/update. Still not going to update for now as i do not see any benefit and fight this update dialogue.

Quite rightly so as far as I can see, all MS are doing is releasing their own version of these paid for PC tweaking game mode, the stupid things that claimed to free RAM, ease CPU usage and make your games run smoother. Now maybe I am missing something here but the entire purpose of an OS is to over see the allocation of system resource in a manner that results in the best experience for the end user. If that end user is gaming then the OS should be in the back ground tweaking things to deliver the best experience. It's something Windows should have been doing AS STANDARD since day one and it is certainly not something that should be requiring a user activated button press that will only work well with certain, MS store bought games of course, games and it certainly does not require all this fanfare that MS seem to be making. Pat us on the back for releasing an addition to our OS that makes it do it's job but only if you push a button to make it do that job and it will only do that job with certain games... so yeah MS deserve all the negative comments they get for this.

I don't think it is any of those things though, or is limited to MS Store games, or requires you to push a button every time. Personally i don't think it's necessary, but who knows what how it will turn out.

MS releases a new OS. People whining. MS doesn't release an OS people whining. MS does nothing about the gaming experience on Windows. People whine about MS don't give a dime about gaming. MS tries to make a Game Mode people cry again. Some people have nothing better to do than whining.

It depends if they dislike MS or not, if they don't then they will moan no matter what. I've warmed to MS recently, while grown wary of Valve, but for many it's the exact opposite. Nothing wrong with people being cynical though, MS do have a poor track record and regaining trust is not an overnight job.

I uninstalled the xbox app. I have no use for it. I already have DVR capabilities through shadowplay, and i have enough overlays running as it is (Steam, Uplay, Shadowplay). Not to mention the fact that their "game bar" totally hijacks the use of the xbox controller's home button. With it enabled, you can't use the home button to launch steam's big picture mode, or use a 3rd party mapping software to map it to a keystroke. Guess i'll just skip out on game mode. Maybe i'll be surprised and they have already thought about all of this. Who knows. They don't really have a strong record with giving the users options and customization when it comes to windows 10. I've seen screenshots that had something in the main windows 10 settings app, but it conisted of just turning on the feature. You still had to use the game bar when in a game to make use of it. That's exactly what i dont want, another friggin overlay.

I'm sorry i don't understand, they release something that can possibly increase performance, which it may or may not do, is optional (ie you have more control), on an operating system that (for me anyway) has worked fine since day one except for a few bugs here and there with specific games/applications which have all since been patched either by windows or the game/app, these fixes generally happened fairly quickly too. So to sum it up, they release something (for free) that could possibly improve performance, which is OPTIONAL, for a system that already seems to be working fairly well. Why complain or attack them over it?
