Everyone blaming microcode or bioses, but real culprit is that new procesors are not compatible backward, it means they will not run older code, all because colaboration with microsoft and strong push to windows 10

ATOMIC pipe errors are intel specific.

If your BIOS boots on UEFI, then you should be ok. As it uses secure boot. Basicially. Intel needs to update it's support from newer processors. It hasn't done since 2016.
isnt that even on bios there is something called "No-Execute Memory Protect" things ? not sure how much different with UEFI secure boots, never been care much about it and always though its similar things

If people have come across the issue, they likely just blamed the software under Linux or Microsoft for Windows. It could have easily gone this long considering it's only the hyperthreaded CPU's and not i5, and the alleged sporadic nature of it. Microsoft may update it in a CPU driver, but ideally it is done through a bios update.
Yes, amazing the number of responders here that didn't read the article and gather info like the official errata number from Intel, or catch that it has to come through a bios-only microcode fix, since obviously the fix has to be applied in every boot before the OS boots. Do people only read the first two lines and then quit?...;) Always a good question these days.

I have that enabled. It stops certain code from running or marks it as non excuitable.

This sounds just like that original issue with Skylake that was fixed in Kaby Lake.

this dont effect my cpu(R0), by time I got my 6700k the cpu was year old, But this does sound like original issue with skylake, which again isnt issue on mine.

They may already have.. this issue has been known for 6+ months now. Intel already pushed Microcode updates to OEM's to fix it. Whether or not they'll update the bios's for all 50000 models that every company seems to ship is another story. Honestly the real story should be that Intel sucks at communicating to it's users what's fixed and what's broken. In fact Intel just sucks at communicating in general - the fact that they abandon EU press with the X299 release is evidence of that. Company needs a swift kick to the balls - I just feel they are completely out of touch.
I think it has to do with Intel being really salty about the EU case. Latest article I've seen on it http://www.businessinsider.com/r-eu-court-seen-ruling-on-intel-antitrust-case-next-year-judge-2017-6

If you want to update your microcode on windows to the latest you could follow this link (NBR forum post) Did it on the laptop and the code update applied after reboot.

These microcodes are safe? From official source? Could be Fake news.If you disable HT what performance you have after? 30-50% off? Edit: I found the white-paper from Intel, for 7th Generation Intel Processor Family https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/7th-gen-core-family-spec-update.html
Intel have microcode download links on their website for linux. For Windows they are part of Windows update. The last release was in 2016 as far as I can tell.

Could be Fake news.
You, sir, do not deserve an answer. Not bothering to even READ, yet bothering to say "could be fake", thus accusing HH (and Debian) of spreading fud, is just detestable and obnoxious.

Yes, it's fake news. Debian is a known fake news outlet. Not to be trusted. Intel released new microcode to fix the fake issue. Microsoft is including the microcode in Windows Update to fix a fake issue. Fake news. Totally.
