here's a little perspective for those who think that prices are high...... Back in 1990 I purchased 8MB (yes you read that right eight megabytes) of 72pin EDO DRAM for $437.95 compared to todays price for 16GB for less half the cost

I assume this would also affect DDR5/5X and HBM2? Anyone confirm this?

I got my 64GB 3ghz enthusiast DDR4 memory for about 350 euro last year.
Two 2x16 kits for that price.
Right now ONE kit is 350 euro...

Can anyone predict when would it plateau or go down?
I plan to upgrade my PC by end of this year, hopefully by then all prices have stabilised.

Ddr5 probably won't even be seen on any consumer board till at least 2020 I'm hoping ram prices drop by the the time the ryzen refresh comes along

Grabbed 32GB DDR3 for £80 ~14 months ago. Shocked by the price of DDR4. Maybe AMD needs to get more involved in the memory market now.

Xbox Scorpio uses 12GB of GDDR5 for system ram.

That almost makes me feel good about my 160€ 3200 CL 14 2x8gb G.Skill pick up.
They're sitting at around 200€ now.
Then again, it was still 160€ for 16gb, which prior I coulda gotten for half that price, when prices were still low(er).
Well, the next pit will always come and maybe then it's time to pick up some larger DIMMs.
