I did not think that fan noise had much to do with bearings (unless they were faulty). Fan noise I think is mostly due to air flow turbulence and fan blade design. Levitation bearings will not solve that. It may make a small difference due to no friction, less vibration, etc, but the main noise is still the blades slicing through the air.

You wouldn't want to put these fans through your whole case due to the price, maybe one or two on a watercooler. I've got the Corsair SP120 Performance fan for my watercoler, that's a good fan for anyone not wanting to pay the premium for these magnetic levitation fans.

I wonder if they would make a good job on a H110 compared to stock fans which are too loud under load.. (meaning good or at least similar performance with lower noise..)
Hi there Personally I would go rather with Noctua NF-F12 PWM or with BeQuiet PureWings 2 PWM or Noiseblocker fans I'm using BeQuiet and those fans are very quiet up to 1100RPM,but usually I'm running them at 750RPM But still Noctua fans are quieter than BeQuiet fans without the questions,yes they're pricier and I've Corsair H100i v2 Hope this helps Thanks,Jura

Actually I tested/checked that by holding a small piece of metal close to the fan base. There's no pull, so the magnetic field is either isolated or just too small to have any reach. There's no danger as such for a HDD.

Not necessarily, the Noctua NF-S12B REDUX 700, Scythe Slip Stream 500, Coolink SWiF2-120 and Noctua NF-S12A ULN all run under 10db at between 500-800 RPM.
hehe somebody who knows the allmighty Coolink Swif! Excellent fans, very quiet and able to run below 600rpm. And cheap too if you can get a hold of them, bought 8 once and still have some spare!

Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of the Noiseblockers, I think I bought the wrong ones (running at 50% they ARE audible, although a pleasent fan noise by itself).

I have a H110 in my 3XS gaming rig and it was too noisy with stock Corsair fans in the 650D case so I left the front fan but have Noctuas in the H110 & in the rear extract. The Noctuas are much quieter so if these new Corsair fans achieve the same then they are worth the cost (to me).

I have a 1u chassis fan (80mm) spliced to USB and running at under 5v. This pushes some serious air at full speed 12v but its great for pushing air to those difficult corners of your case. Very noisy... but I'm more concerned about heat build up. Those things run at least 30+db on 5v so you can imagine what its like when its maxed out. My 4x Notcua 240's seem a bit tame in comparison lol (Typical Datacenter buzz)

Hmm, I'll be installing my new Corsair H115i soon, do you think these fans are a lot better (performance wise) than the stock Crosair SP140L fans? Or is it mostly just for looks?

I've used three types on my builds and best has been NB Blacksilent,then I've tried NB eLoop which has been noisiest fans from Noiseblockers Usually I'm using Noctua or BeQuiet fans and Scythe,few weeks back I've replaced all Corsair fans on friend PC as she hated noise and I've used only Noctua fans,they don't look fancy or cool,but offers quiet performance Hope this helps Thanks,Jura

Hi there If you are like quiet PC then I would go with Noctua or as above fans from Scythe,BeQuiet fans,I would get PWM fans Regarding the performance,have run like stock Corsair fans and then swapped for Noctua NF-F12,BeQuiet Pure Wings 2 or Silent Wings and I would choose everytime Noctua as they're silent and perform very nicely on rads,BeQuiet are great fans,they're noisier than Noctua,but still they're lot quieter than any Corsair fan what I've owned,I'm running my fans at 750RPM most of the time,but I think they perform slightly better than Noctua on rads Hope this helps Thanks,Jura

Why would they need rubber corners if the fan blades are totally free floating in levitation. Surely this alone removes any vibration created by the old style metal ball race. The rubber would help with initial torque when the fans are started but that's about all because once these fans hit about 50% you should be able to place it down on a flat surface and see no vibration what so ever, in theory.

Man, these are tempting. But I'd have tp swap out 5 140mm and one 120mm fan. And that still wouldn't cancel out the noise from my Windforces. Might have another look when one of my current fans is failing. Actually one on my X61 Kraken is failing. NZXT quickly sent a replacement though. Heck, since I wasn't sure which of the two fans are failing, they sent *two* replacements. Talk about excellent support.

I was actually on the lookout for some fans when I spotted this mini review! I like the idea of the magnetic bearings so I've just ordered a set of both the 120mm and 140mm twinpacks which should be here with me tomorrow... I chose the non-pro twinpacks as the black and white styling fits the style of my system well and they don't come with horrible LED lights either which I abhor. Also they're cheaper too which is nice! I'll whack the 2x 120s onto my H100i rad and the 2x 140s will replace the 2 front stock fans in the front of my case (Fractal Design Arc XL). Though I wouldn't call my system loud, you can clearly hear all the fans so these should hopefully shave a few dbs of my system as my case pretty much lets all the internal sounds escape! I'll still have a stock 140 on the rear exhaust, but I'll run that at the slowest speed for now and will worry about that later...

I wonder why they don't use rgb led for fans I would love to have green or orange or which ever color I feel like using.
the main reason probably addition production cost adding rgb led means it will need led controller, extra wire.. etc afaik corsair have yet to release rgb led so either the demand not that many OR price with rgb led is not attractive for most people to buy
There are 12 cm versions, as per this article, and 14 cm versions available. There are also two different functional (this does not include colour) variations of the fan in each size. The twin pack fan does not have the rubber corner mounts whereas the single packs do. The single versions are therefore labelled 'Pro' as they are anti-vibration, and cost more. I think if they had the pro in a twin pack at that price they'd be on a real winner. I don't think there would be too many people who would justify the extra cost of the 'Pro' versions. Corner differences of the twin pack compared to the the pro: The pro version is around 43 percent more expensive for the 12 cm and 45 percent for the pro. Expensive corners! There would be some discount in the twin pack, and extra charge in the pro for having the 'pro' feature corners.
based on the picture, aside the rubber corner, i see better plastic used in PRO compared to normal, not sure if that just photographic effect though --------------------------- beside silverstone that have awesome support (based personal experience), corsair also great support so as long corsair keeping their product quality (not to be disillusioned by long warranty terms) and their great RMA service, i will keep buying their products been using their psu, cooler, fans ... it last long enough so far only 1 failing psu (after 4years+), their rma service is great so no complain

I would like to see one of the fans insides. I guess there are tiny rare earth magnets? Is really the main question of how the magnets work.:)I think most people are fascinated by powerful magnets.....idk some people? lol everything to tiny to see i guess

I've bought 8 Noiseblocker Black Silent Pro PL-2, and while they are relatively quiet, the Swif I mentioned above is more quiet under half load for instance, at least subjectively. Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on any Scythe Gentle Typhoons... Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible or loud by itself, it's just... if it wasn't a bother to undo half my rig and unmount a rad from my cooling, I'd try some other fans, but... not right now, maybe during next year's maintenance or when I get a new GPU 😀
