Speaking as a very hairy man, I'd quite happily wear skimpy clothes and stand around all day while making bank at a technology event.

There's only one angry wall of text here, and it's not complaining about booth babes.

1. The girls took the job. If they thought it was degrading or not what they wanted to do, then they would have gotten a job doing something else.
I think that Hilbert joked that posting photos of booth girls is degrading of the forum.

My post wasn't directed at Hilbert. It was more posted towards the people like "thiscontroller" that made an account just to post about the posting of the pics. And also towards those people that want to ban "booth babes" from events because "it is inappropriate". They always seem to tag on there that "it is degrading" as well. And I hope one of them comes in here and reads some common sense comments and wake up... but I highly doubt it.

Thanks, that was very funny! Yeah, I don't mind the girls holding up their keyboards & mice, but it is damn strange in a funny, amusing kind of way!

Sure, but the comment you think is "freaking out" is just saying that it is not necessary to technology journalism to make a post devoted to photos of booth babes. That kind of defensive reaction over very, very mild criticism of something admittedly "not professional or even friendly towards women" is just strange.

You literally came here to employ bait and switch tactics, didn't you?

Person may have been browsing the main page for years, I know I did before I really posted. Doesn't mean new member opinion is irrelevant. Got to say I agree though, but at least hilbert acknowledged it this year, previous years had little against the sexualisation of technology "Babes of Guru3d" was closed for a reason. haha wait no nevermind, the same thing was written in 2010
It's silly, it's shameless, it's not at all related to journalism I know and you know what, it's not professional or even friendly towards women. But but any guy will agree with me, it's in our genes and as such I call a wildcard on this. We men just can't help it. Welcome to an article without a lot words, it's just women... the booth babes of Computex 2010.

To my memory, the Babes thread was closed because people kept posting full on nudity and porn.

You know this always makes me lol. I am a girl and personally I dont find this sexist at all, people might ask me why and there is in fact a few reasons the biggest being that they are doing it of there own free will and getting paid accordingly. I mean honestly I've worn LESS when I've gone out clubbing with friends 🙂 And truly is it a womans fault that SOME men are so simple minded that draping a pretty girl over the product makes them want to buy it? No not really. Smart guys realise it for what it is, prolly whistle quietly to themselves and think "damn, she's hot...product is still crap though" and move on.

Lately I've seen too many men obsess over this kooky "it's all patriarchy" feminism. That's all nice and funny, but they are obsessing over fringe movement without any real power. And being out of focus is not very manly imho.

It's known as the "SJW" movement that's touted by tumblr and a few gaming websites such as Kotaku. A classic case of a very loud minority that shouldn't be paid any attention.
