Valve, wake up please.

As a long time CS player, this alone is a reason for me to buy Overwatch! Meanwhile CS is too busying sucking money off people with their stupid cases, season passes and other new gibberish skins adding every now and then for ludicrous prices, while playing on their hack infested 64 tick garbage of servers. ESEA is just another joke, so that out of the question too.

while this is good news, i really hate cheating in mmo that effect rest of community but seems this kinda ackward, wonder if they can easily win the court i mean isnt blizz/owner the one need to defense their own games, instead blaming on the one hacking it ? indeed its like thiefing someone house, its crime but on other hand, if the house owner let its door open, can it full-blame on the thief?

You have to be crazy to openly defy Blizzard by making them lose money. Only clinically insane would dare provoking Blizz Battleship Lawyer Team to home in on them

True... Hacking ruins it for everyone, so I am happy when I read articles like this. Score 1 for non hackers/cheaters.
So we are celebrating a company who has decided instead of making their game secure against cheaters has instead decided to just give up altogether and sue someone for making cheats. Now I am sure the legal non sense will say something along the lines of the cheater will have had to used modified code from the game to make the cheat and as such is breaching copyright laws but if the cheater had developed the code from the ground up using NONE of Blizzards assets then it is wholly up to Blizzard to make their game secure and this method is an utter cope out. so yeah by all means keep on saying well done to a multi million (billion maybe) dollar developer that is to lazy to secure their own game code against hackers.

finally a good news ! years ago in CS 1.6 (before GO existed) I tried an aimbot 3d radar wallhack etc the lot it was 10-15 years ago and already it was super high-tech it showed me on 3d radar how much health the players had left how much ammo they had if they had the bomb etc.. I played for 2 weeks with it...not once was I accused of cheating which was depressing but worst, with the wallhack I saw other players following me left and right when I was insided a building, they had now way of knowing where I was going unless they cheated too, in 10 days of gaming EVERY game there was at least one other aimbot like that and it was like I said years ago when video game was a niche not a multi billion dollar industry like nowadays, aimbots where made by hackers for "fun" not business companies like today, after uninstalling it and when I realized the servers where full of cheaters, un-detectable cheaters I stopped playing pvp fps for 4 years. As a young clan and ladder player of CS I felt sick and almost puked to see how many cheaters there were 🙁 I only really started again at BF4 release and things quickly went south again (now they have teleport, monthly subscription hacks that intercept your client-server communication and works in-between, totally undetectable even for consoles O_O they monitor your account network data you have no files nothing on your computer) so I stopped playing competitive pvp games again and I'm not sure I'll play them ever again.I'm sticking to pve or hord modes now, if others cheat good for them but it doesn't ruin my fun. Must be young and naive people playing all those survival pvp like battlegrounds and for honor because they clearly have no idea what they are playing against. One of those german companies making hacks for overwatch had 30'000 monthly subscribers....30k ! so yeah it's not 1 or 2 cheaters here and there nowadays, 1 or 2 is what I had in 1995 Now if governements (europeans especially since software companies do whatever they want here) would arrest and put to jail all those aimbot cheats company it would be even better. It's dirty money made by what is clearly an illegal buisness, for me it's the same as selling drugs -> 5 years of jail no anticipated liberation for everyone except the cleaners laughing ma there is no way to secure a game online like I explained above, the only secure way to do pvp is in a LAN with no connection to the internet with computers and hardware set-up by the organization and with no accounts required for the players and don't cheat please, only cheaters would defend those companies, you just publicly admitted you cheat..no you can't take it back you just did too late

Before you buy the game you have to agree and accept the terms of use, the stuff people never read. There it states they can ban you if you use modifications or exploit the game. Any player getting caught should be IP banned forever from that game.
Nothing against banning a cheater. We were talking about giving them back money for they subscription if they don;t play anymore. No matter if the account is banned or not it's not normal to keep the money. And again....this is a game....is not like game police exists and they confiscate your assets for cheating.

I'd be up for that.. Running into a hacker makes me want to beat their head into their keyboard and then destroy their PC.:infinity:

Too bad, it should be 10x higher. Hopefully more publishers will take these things to court.

Good job Blizzard! In the meantime Valve sniffing glue in Valve HQ. Hope they do something about the blatant cheats in CSGO
This!! Gabe said it's still the same 10 idiots developing CSGO so no chance :bang:

I'm not against the curt order or any punishment for a crime BUT when Blizzard banned the cheating players they did not pay back the money charged for subscription so if let's say a player had a 6 month subscription and they got banned after 2 weeks, those 5 and a half months of game paid was not refunded. Isn't that a crime as well?
I am sure when they started cheating and tampering with game they forfeit any rights to said subscription, accounts or anything else related to said game.

I remember a video about ~15 years ago where they caught some guy hacking in a big, warehouse sized tournament so they literally tossed him and his gaming PC/gear out into the parking lot, smashing his rig. 🤓

The fine should be absolutely everything they made. Otherwise it'll just be considered cost of business, like every other example of scum companies in history; Think Intel cared they lost the case against AMD? They had already won a monopoly which lasted 11 years, whatever they lost in court was a pittance compared to what they gained and how much they crippled AMD.

You can't IP ban for one simple reason well two actually 1: I can always ask my ISP for a new IP address or if your ISP uses CGNAT you just turn off your modem/router for 30~40 mins and you should be assigned a new IP address 2: The old IP address will be recycle and anyone getting it wont be able to play the game if they choose to or has to jump through flaming rings of red tape to prove they're not the same person...... Good for Blizzard nobody likes a cheater (personally I think they should all be burnt with fire until crispy)

Nice ! I remember GTA Online when just come out was really fun on PC ! but when they found a way to cheat become unplayable to me.

EA, DICE, Others should follow this suit too. Hackers need go, Play and fair more enjoyable and experiences.

Problem with society? Basically average player get's owned by very good player immediately believes very good player must be cheating, so goes out an grabs a cheat. Average player now becomes god like with cheats, which inspires others to cheat also. Following the motto of can't beat them? join them.

Yeap, no punishment is too severe for hackers and cheater in online games, this is why i like the console approach, they can't stop it totally but when they ban their hardware for a lifetime and in some cases ban accounts, it give you a nice warm feeling inside, they might be back, but it will cost them, and cost them, and cost them, of course not much of a problem for me these days as i rarely play online, hell i think i have 2 hours in the lastest BF game, but i do love to read their threads crying about being banned, brings a tear to my eye, of joy. lol

I remember cheaters back during the Diablo 1 days where users used hacks and cheats to either auto PK your character so many times you run out of gold or get pissed off to rage quit the game. Blizzard did not care at all. Then in Diablo 2 you had the users who used maphack which fills in the entire map to help users run through the dungeons quicker.

Cheaters fault only, because cheaters tainted reputation of good players. I play Battlefield 4. As soon as see suspicious player, who is killing everybody on left and right, I switch to opposite the team, equip most powerful weapon and assume that player can see through walls (no need for silencer). In many cases cheaters don't use maximum settings in order not to reveal themselves. This means that if I aim at the head level and start pre-shooting while emerging from corners then it will be the case of simple math - who have gun with the lower "time to kill". Killing suspicious players can be challenging fun sometimes 🙂.
