free on Steam?)"
so not only do you allow modding a 24 year old game that has been moddable since release, you will also give away a 23 year old game and allow access to a free mod if you're given at least 10k of money.
You're too kind.
(Yes yes, those donations probably go to charity, or at least so they say...)
That was Quake 2.
But eh, will probably grab this. I have it on Steam but there's always room for Quake.
EDIT: whoa Bethesda:
"Also, those who get their free copy of Quake may download mods for the game..."
"If donations reach the goal of $10,000 during the weekend show, Bethesda will also give away Quake 2 and give access to the full Ray Tracing version of the game in their launcher (which I think already is bipman

Unfortunately not free, only the first 3 levels.
From the Steam game page:
"Quake II RTX is fully ray-traced and includes the 3 levels from the original shareware distribution."
The full Quake II is 4,99 EUR, so the giveaway would give something plus compared to current situation.
I'm waiting for it, both games.

In case any of you like Team Fortress or CTF or whatever, here's a pretty amazing Quakeworld client, FTE: http://triptohell.info/
By the way, a lot of online FPS multiplayer gaming firsts happened in Quake/QW mods, including differentiated combat roles with specialized skillsets, airstrikes, ability to go prone, drones, sticky bombs, spike traps, land and air vehicles, MIRV grenades -- and those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. Heck, the first D-Day map was made for Quake. This all happened before 2000. In fact, my online nick was made for Quake and I've been using it since 1996.
P.S. Big shout out to any MegaTF veterans out there, especially from the Biscuit Board! Another big shout out to Tonik, author of Zquake!
