I find it funny they suddenly make the jump from 1080p on everything to 4K for the highest. You'd expect maybe the 'Ultra' settings would be concerning 1440p resolution? Nope. Ultra... at 1080p. Are we still in 2015 or...? Then again I get it, it's a previous-gen title at its base (for PS4 and Xbox One).
1080p is still very dominant, 1440p/1600p make up <15% of primary displays as reported by steam. picking 4k , which is a common tv resolution and likely the highest resolution a significant number of people will be using, not that surprising for "ultimate". Sometimes I wonder how many people buy something like a 4090 and have a 1080p monitor , I wouldn't be surprised if its most of them.....

I seriously doubt it, people who are willing to spend such an absurd amount for a 4090 are going to do their research and know it's wasted currently at 1080p. You might as well buy a Radeon if your goal is 1080p, because your limiting factor is going to be the CPU and AMD drivers have much less overhead. Besides, if someone is buying a halo product like a 4090, they're more than likely going to buy a high end monitor if they don't already have one.

I think you are vastly overestimating the number of people that think about their pcs that deeply. most people I know who play games dont build pcs, and the ones that do , do so for money, apart from them, I would be surprised if they even knew what gpu they actually had. let alone what monitor resolution they are using. this forum is not representative of avg people.

Yeah, it's not, and the average person doesn't go out and spend $2K on a 4090.

there are still people that buy 27 " 4k monitors and use 1080 p because they cant see the cursor 🙂

It's fantastic to see these very rare instances when developers make system requirement tables with fps and resolution targets. Mostly it's only "minimum" and "recommended" but never for what resolution and what the expected fps outcome will be.

I think that's more of an education issue with the purchaser. Or they need better glasses.

There are plenty of people who "Want the fastest gaming pc" and don't build it themselves.

This game looks amazing. Its about time someone got creative. Suits need to leave game design alone and let the Devs do it. If you want to make money, let Devs get creative again and leave the woke shite out also..

1080p is pretty cool still if you want high refresh rate gaming of 240Hz+. Combining a high end GPU with such a monitor means you can end up with minimum frame rates being locked at your highest refresh rate for example at maximum in game image quality settings. For games that don't need to run at 240Hz+ then you can use the excess GPU power for stuff like turning off any AA used in the game & instead using DL DSR (in NVidia Control Panel) to completely remove jaggies whilst maximising your perceived Texture Quality (DSR improves this). An RTX 4090 might still be a bit extreme for this usage, but there's the other high end cards a bit lower down.

And those people would also want "the best" monitor, or buy an entire package that includes a monitor. Let me put it this way, do you know of even 1 person who has a 4090 and uses 1080p unless it's a 360Hz+ user? Even then it's a waste because the CPU can't keep up as I said before, a Radeon would be a better choice.
